Filters and Auction Sites

Hi All,

I am looking at buying several filters from Ebay.

I am purchasing 2 UV and 2 CIR-PL. They are all the Hoya Pro1 Digital Filers. I have found a retailer on an autction site who has a feedback raiting of 40,000+.

would you be happy to buy from him? Would you have any concerns about them being genuin?

I only ask as from him i will pay about £95 but from an online retailer i would be looking at about £250.

What are your thoughts?
 
Id be happy. I get my B&W UV F-Pro filters for about £10 for 77mm ones from HK. They are genuine and very well made and a fraction of the price that I would have to pay on the highstreet.
 
what are the best filters to buy.

I always thought Hoya were but is it a case of personal prefference?

incase it matters the filters are for a 70-200L F4 and a 50 F1.8
 
Hoya Pro ones are decent, but I prefer B&W ones as they are made from solid brass which stops them fusing to lenses and other filters, with the glass sandwiched between two layers, meaning it doesn't flex due to temperature changes.
 
Well I just had 3 filters arrive from a honk kong ebay seller, payed peanuts for them in comparison with uk retail prices. All arrived 3 days later, and in original sealed boxes
 
I had a Hoya Pro CP and I ended up having to break it to get it off my lens. what a frustrating day that was
 
No, but given the choice of breaking the lens or breaking the filter, the lens came out on top. bloody thing! I might try the B&W ones as MK uses if they're supposed to combat that.

Yes he said they are made from Brass which means they dont shrink or expand in the hot and cold.
