Hi all,

For Christmas I am asking for a Sigma 10-20mm lens and I am trying to work out which filters I would want. I guess I would need a UV lens for protection and a Circular Polarizing Filter. I just looked up to see how much it would cost, the Sigma has a 77mm filter size and I just found a Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizing Filter for £58.80. What is the difference between the normal 77mm and the 77mm Super HMC PRO-1, because the latter costs £126.80 !!

I have a Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizing Filter on my kit lens which I bought used on ebay and I don't see much difference at all.

I am also thinking about buying a 77mm Graduated ND filter, but can't seem to find one.

Any help would be appreciated.

The super HMC Pro-1 are multicoated, so they are less prone to bouncing light around your camera and causing nastiness like light flares. They are also set in a very thin mount so will not cause any mechanical vignetting. They also tend to stop less light so you don't lose much light when compared to cheaper alternatives. By a strange coincidence I am just about to order one. :)
