Having had my bike exactly 7 days and ridden it about 150 miles and also finally gotten my hands on some chain cleaner & dry lube I decided to attack my chain.

As it had been serviced upon buying it I would have expected them to have given the chain a good clean & fresh lube but apparently not. It had been tightened/rear wheel aligned.

Picture speak for themselves I think:

Glad I decided to take the cover off the front sprocket as there was plenty in there. My brush is definitely buggered and I used a whole can of cleaner and it's still not quite perfect, much better though and I gave it a thorough spray with dry lube but would like to get it as clean as possible. I'm not sure what it was being lubed with but it pretty much looked and felt like oil & dirt. I've ridden in the dry only and sure as help hope that isn't 7 days worth of crud! To my surprise my chain is actually gold in colour under it all!

Any recommendations for some stronger cleaner to help cut through all the muck? It does all need brushing off unfortunately as it's that stubborn.

All the fairings are coming off and I'm going to spend Sunday getting stuck in

I just scoop it out with a stick or anything handy then wipe it down with wd40 and cloth.
But give the chain a clean more often and it won't build up too much.

Parafin makes a great cleaner and is very cheap, once clean dry it off with a rag, coat it in a thin layer of your preferred lube, go out for a quick spin to warm the chain then re-apply when finished.
