Hi guys i have pretty much decided on my laptop that i am going to order now. I have two questions remaining regarding some options that i have.

As this laptop is for my partner to play WoW on and warhammer down the line, do i want to upgrade the HDD from 5400rpm to 7200 for £58? I noticed most of the people in the vostro thread in laptop section stuck with the slower drive and didnt have any complaints i read but i just want to be sure.

On top of this i have the option of changing from business vista to home premium. Could someone give me the low down on the differences please? changing to home will increase delivery time somewhat and i also have acces s to a free copy of business through uni that i was gonna use with my new desktop build in jan. Is business bad in some way? lacking something?

Replies as soon as poss please guys, need to get this ordered :)

Thanks for any help, sorry for the billion questions over last few weeks.

SAMSUNG DVD-RW Slot-in 6xx4W/6xx5WD/2xx5

2.00 GHz Intel® Core™2 Duo T7250 800MHz 2MB

Or this for £592.20:

Base Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2-cache)
Microsoft Operating System Genuine Windows Vista® Business - English
Memory 2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)

Video Card 256MB nVidia® GeForce® 8600M GT
Hard Drive 160GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
Modem 56.6k V.92 Capable Internal Modem & Adapter - UK
Optical Devices Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive
Wireless Networking Intel® Pro Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Mini-Card - Europe

The differences are the memory on the GFX card, wireless card 'n', faster but smaller HDD. The first spec also has no OS with it, i do have access to xp pro and vista business for free though (1 copy) via my uni. Can upgrade HDD to 7200rpm on the second for an additional 58, or both the HDD and the wireless card to make it a total of £656. No way to upgrade the gfx card further.

First Laptop is also nicer looking but from a company i have not really heard of so unsure of how good their build quality/support is.

I don't know too much about laptops but that seems like an excessive price premium for a 7200rpm drive.

This comparison table from Microsoft might help with the differences between Vista editions. :)

Thanks for the table, doesnt look like i miss out on anything really bar media center. The whole 'make dvds' etc i would do with nero anyway, not some integrated software.

Suppose it just comes down to the HDD speed then really.

I think the only real advantage business has over home premium is remote desktop. I would always go for the fastest hard disk in a laptop, as it always the slowest part.
