It would be seriously downclocked from the alledged 6970 speeds of 900Mhz plus but even so it does look like a challenge for 300w.

I reckon 30-40% faster 4870CF to 6970.

Reason being 5870 ~= 4870CF and it seems like 6970 will be around 30-40% faster than 5870, usual pinches of salt apply

What I'm saying make perfect sense. Why would you pay £550~ for a pair HD6970 when a HD6990 will give the same performance for £100~ less ?

We'll have to wait and see final specs but 6970CF should blow away 6990 as the 6990 will be clocked a lot slower

I think you're right when you say the 6970 is going to be a slower clock speed, but I guess now one know how downclocking is going to take place util it hits the shops.

Absolutely, all speculation at the moment. Current speculation I have seen is a 900Mhz 6970 and 775Mhz 6990, 6990 being 2 6970 cores.
