Right, about to push the button on this lot. Before I do I would appreciate any comments/improvement suggestions. Will be my first ever Intel build and would prefer an asrock board. Also my first time with Nvidia having always bought ATI but I chose the 570 over the 6950 as I play a lot of sc2 etc and it came out ahead of the 6950.

Does the corsair xms3 play nice with sandybridge? Was hoping for faster ram?

Cheers guys. WIll opt for some 1600mhz ram then. Do I need certain voltage ram for sb or will 1.5-1.65v be ok? Yeah really liking that asrock board. Bit of an asrock fanboi and want the option for sli in the future.

I think I'll be reusing my antec 650 truepower new psu from my current build but in the event of going sli will update that as and when. For now a single 570 should hold me? SHould be big step up from my 6850?

Looking at a KFA 570, not listed on ocuk, these anygood? Also, the 570 annihilates teh 6950 apparently, and is optimised for starcraft 2 ...mega aa here I come

Cheers mate. Also, still mulling over the case. Thinking of getting the coolermaster silencio. But a touch concerned as to whetehr it'll keep a 570 and i5, both hopefully overclocked reasonably cool.

Extreme 4 it is then. Anyone use this lucid virtu, a gimmick or as good as it sounds. With the silencio case it would be good for the 570 to idle more unless gaming for heat reasons...

Right, finally I'm agonising over which cpu cooler to use. Height being the issue (silencio case takes coolers up to 154mm in height) I am down to:

Coolermaster TX3 or Hyper 212plus
Gelid Tranquilo
Akasa venom nano
Antec Kuhler 620 (lack of pwm control puts me off though)

i5 will hopefully be clocked to 4.5

Cheers for all your help guys. Made a slight last minute revision. Decided to give air cooling a bash and if teh temps are high will get the kuhler, so ordered a Thermolab Bada 2010 which did well in tests looking at reviews. And decided to stick with WD and ordered a shiney new 1 tb wd caviar black drive. Can't wait.

New build is up and running. Its a touch noisey and I can't decide wetehr its the cpu cooler (which is at full tilt) or the gfx card. I think its the cooler as there's limited airflow in the case.

Temps wise after a good game, and with ambient temps int he room hgihe rthan average due to the warm weather the cpu is hitting 60 ish and 70 on bench and the gfx card 80. Are these temps ok? Its currentl on 4.4ghz as well.

I'm going to put a second intake fan in the front of the case and I am considering changing the cpu cooler for my original idea of an antec kuhler. Probably a 920 unless anyone thinks the 620 would be better?

Decided I'm going to get the kuhler 920 on Monday and move the exhaust fan to the front so I have two low rep intake fans

Idle 35 and load 60/70 on cpu

gfx card idle 40 load 80

The cpu is oc'd to 4.4 too

I didnt go with the 620 in the end. Went with a thermolab bada air cooler which, due tot he heat in such a padded case is running near full tilt all the time. So decided will get a kuhler. Decided on 920 for pwm control , larger rad and fan software etc

Hi Stulid

Running the chip at 4.4 using the oc menu with everythign else left on auto. Not seen the vcore go higher than 1.34. In time I'll do some testing to see if I can get that down. It's also done 4.6 with no issues, but cause of the temps I knocked it back down. Haven't tried for 4.8 and dont think I will whilst temps are high.

I'm thinking of getting the Kuhler 920, and placing the exhaust fan in the front so I ahve the two intakes. That should help temps I feel?

What temps ahve you been getting?

Decided to go for a Kuhler 920. Will stick my two akasa viper case fans on the rad and the two stock coolermaster fans as intakes on the front of the case. The thermolab bada is running nera full all the time to cope which is noisey.
