Have a quick browse through and see if everything will work well together, if the mobo would fit into the case (bad experiences), the power supply good enough and would fit into the case/mobo. I won't really be overclocking since, well, I don't know how.
I realise the HD is small but it would be used EXCLUSIVELY for Windows and gaming. I have two external drives for all my po...."educational" stuff.
Anything I'm missing?? I have a X-FI card already.
a lot of sweat went into getting the money together for this rig, please give opinions.

I would swap the hard drive for a seagate 7200.10 as they are regarded by most as the fastest sata drive at the mo bar raptors.

Also i would consider getting a x1900xt preferably an his version. They can be overclocked past and xtx pretty easily and the performance is not that far from a x1950xtx. What resolution will you be gaming at?

I would also get an NEC dvd writer, or see if you can find an sata one.

I had a look at the

HIS ATI Radeon X1900 XT ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

but the memory is clocked at 1.45ghz while the x1950xtx is at 2ghz for and extra 40 quid

Is the difference big enough to warrant that £40?

No, not when you can clock the XT to XTX speeds. I'd put the £40 towards something else. Better case maybe like the Akasa Eclipse.

Hi regulus, we meet again. If you prefer the1950XTX version, that is fine. But for the HDD, I'd prefer you go for the 74GB WD Raptor 10K RPM. That would be nice for windows installation and games.

But Andy has a point there, the 40 pounds can be used for a better case. Akasa eclipse 62 is one, or Lian Li PC6.

Lol, Yup me again. Anyway, I've ordered and are at peace now. Any small improvements just have to be made via overclocking or driver upgrades. I might get the Raptor next month. I went with the 1950xtx since the £40 didn't bother me at all. Thanks again everyone!

Unless your using really HD intensive apps don't bother with a Raptor, just get the 7200.10, the performance is darn close for a regular drive and it is significantly cheaper. Besides in a lot of apps (like games) the loading time diff is so small blink and you'll miss it and in something like BF2 who cares, as the round doesn't start till the slowbies are in the game anyway :p
