If the above is true, then you can use the CPU's HD4000 GFX core via the motherboards outputs.

will play the odd simulator / game now and again, but it will be more desktop based. The other option is to use the internal card.

What type of simulator?

What type of desktop work, if it just word processing / spread sheets then the specs are way overkill.

video editing hd movies, archiving/uncompressing files and the usual word processing / spread sheets

and want it to last a bit of time as the last time i upraded the computer was over 6 years ago, as per my sig

It will certainly last.

But just maybe the motherboard is a little OTT?

The Z77X-D3H (on offer at £109) has 90% of the features/abilities.

You don't need the thermal paste, the cooler should be supplied with it.

Cheaper RAM

Maybe it might be worth looking at something like a 6570 GPU, it will give better gaming performance than the 620. But check that non of your editing software uses CUDA as this would make 620 more useful.

Love that game !!! :D just a shame that I can't get it to work properly with Windows 7

the reason i didnt look at the Z77X-D3H was that it only had 2 sata3 connections and Z77X-UD5H has 5 of these. I have 3 x Sata 3 drives to go in

Did that black and white version ever come off pre-order? I remember it being on pre-order when I was after one back in April.

Is your case large enough to fit that cooler, I have one and while it does a very good job it is rather large.
