Thanks for any help

You've got everything there that you should need however I might suggest you change the DVDRW to an NEC 5170A which is the same price and I personally think is a bit of a better drive.

Also can I ask why you are going for XP Pro? The only real changes from XP Home are improved networking and the ability to use multiple (physical) CPUs, dual core will work fine with either but you could save a bit of money going for XP Home. :)

get the asus I believe it writes and burns quicker for the same money...

what do you use your pc for? will you be overclocking?

how about some thermal paste for the HSF ...

DS4 mobo is good but the DS3 is just as good .....

The Arctic Freezer 7 comes with thermal paste pre-applied so there should be no need to worry about that since it is pretty good stuff(Arctic Silver make some of the best pastes about for general uses). :)

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.

Honestly, the reason for the drive was it was silver :D Case is brushed alumn and i wanted something to match. When i looked for drives the other week it was one of the only silver ones on there.

The NEC also comes in silver so i can easily change that, but for which one?
Is it worth paying the quid extra to go for the AD7170A or the ND4570?

About the XP Pro thing, i do some web work on the side and need to have IIS running and i'm pretty sure home doesn't support that.

One thing i am worried about though is the graphics card. ATI aside, is there anything better i could get than that for the money?

Edited to add: yeah man, definately will be overclocking, and the machine is for gaming...gaming......and more gaming. :D

I don't think it makes much of a difference which NEC you go for, I'd probably spend the £1 on the AD7170A because it is slightly newer but really it isn't going to make much of a difference. :)

I'm sorry I don't know that much about XP Pro, Home might or might not support IIS but I guess if you know Pro definitely will it is worth the extra.

The GTO is basically a GTX in disguise so no, I don't think you will find much better for the money. :)

Awesome, thanks so much for your input.

One last thing though, right now i have "Seasonic M12 Modular 500W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-005-SS)" on the list, do you think the money would be better spent on say a "Seasonic S12 Energy+ 550W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-003-SS) or a Seasonic S12 600W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-002-SS) ?

The 500w will be more than capable for the system that you have specified there, it is also modular so it should make it easier to tidy up the cables since you only need to plug in the ones you use. :)

Thats what i was hoping, i really like the modular idea.... can't stand messy cables ;)

Thanks for the help Semi, come monday i'll be ordering :D

I just hope i don't manage to break the thing whilst building
