Hi guys,

I cannot believe the time is nearly here to purchase my new system! Just thought I'd re-check for about the what, third/forth time before making any commitments!

The Spec:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz
**MOTHERBOARD**
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB)
BFG GeForce 7950 GX2 1024MB GDDR3
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music
Antec P180 Advanced Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Silver)
Seasonic S12 600W Silent ATX2.2 Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 3200KS SATA-II 16MB Cache x2
Samsung SH-W163 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter
Scythe Miné Quiet Heatpipe CPU Cooler
Akasa AK-183-L2B Amber Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan - 3 pin x3
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
Western Digital Secure Connect

Coming nicely to about £1,500.00!

Thing is, I have been reading about all the problems with the GeForce 7950GX2 and most motherboards, has anyone got any ideas of a good motherboard for this that’s available now?

Others did previously suggest waiting for the Nforce5... but I am looking at buying this in two weeks, and with the sudden burst in E6600 stock, it is taking all my will-power not to jump at it now!

Any suggestions, comments, recommendations to my spec? Before I finally commit!

I think you will find that in practice, the included tricool case fan will be sufficient.

For the same price or even a bit less, consider two 160GB disks? You could then consider a striped RAID array - where you could "merge" the disks together (have windows see the two as one disk), meaning you can read/write at two places at the same time.

I wouldn't recommend waiting for the Nforce5 and buying as soon as it comes out - there are *bound* to be problems everywhere, with the BIOS, drivers etc.

I wanted the extra fans to max everything out, I believe the Antec P180 comes with 3 fans and can have 2 additional, + one for the CPU heay sync... maximum airflow!

So, if I should not wait for the NForce, would you agree with 'dual2max'?:

Asus P5xxxxx or any Intel 975X type, should be fine.
Other then that, the spec a solid one? I mean is there anything anyone else would change?

(Thanks guys, excellent help as usual.)
