Right well i'll be buying my parts either today or tomorrow, so need a final check from you clever guys :D

Will be buying a HD at my local PC shop.
Also can any advise me when to order if I want my parts to arrive on Saturday or Monday. I mean at checkout can you choose what day it arrives/and time?

Back to the bits'n'bobs.

I'll just assume the answer is yes.

This GT should give you 90% of the performance of the GTX while using much less power and costing significantly less. If you're dead-set on a GTX wait a few weeks for the line refresh. You can use the extra money to do whatever you want; more storage, a sound card, better case, or even the 64-bit OS you'll need for 4 GiB RAM.

Are those GT's in stock because im wanting to order it today or tomorrow? Im not wanting to overclock straight away, maybe in a few months.
Why is everyone so keen on the Tuniq towers? I read about the Zalman and it has a much better polished surface, faster spins, its bigger, and just keeps things much cooler.
Also why that motherboard? Is it SLi compliant? And isnt Corsair much better than GeiL?

Thanks for the response Billy

A bunch of GTs came in stock yesterday and flushed out all the backorders. Call up OcUK and see what they have in stock. I definitely think it's worth the effort rather than paying extra for a GTX.

If you want the Zalman go for it as it's a nice cooler. I like the Tuniq because you can use any fan with it, it spins slower, it actually is bigger, and should do the cooling job just fine despite being slightly cheaper.

I chose that motherboard because it overclocks like crazy. It does not do SLi.

The Corsair you spec'd has worse specs than the cheaper Geil. Unless you're doing extreme overclocking you'll never end up running the RAM faster than its rated speed when in sync with the CPU FSB so why pay more?

Yes, but SLi is a waste IMO. You pay double but do not get double the performance but do get double the power draw and noise. SLi, in my eyes, is reserved for extremely high resolution top-end systems.

If you're dead set on SLi you should wait a few weeks for the new nVidia chipsets to come out.

So for example if I got the mobo you suggested and got one GT, would this work fine in all recent games such as COD4, crysis, etc? Is the superclocked version something to consider? Since im spending less on the GFX card maybe I should stretch £20 for it? And then maybe I could upgrade in 2/3 months for a new better GTX? Would that be a smart move? Would your 520W be enough for when I got the GTX?

Also would it be a good idea getting 4gb plus XP Pro (64bit) ? Or just get 2gb and the 32bit version?

Also do you have any ideas about the delivery questions in the first post :P ?

Cheers

I'm fond of XP64 so I'd go with that. The 520 will be enough when you get the next gen GTX.

I cannot answer the delivery question. I've never received delivery from OcUK for semi-obvious reasons. ;)

Is the superclocked version much better?

Ye I considered you wouldnt know just thought you might have heard something around the forum :P .

As the total is 750, I have about 100 left to spend, what would you advise to get or upgrade?

The superclocked version is largely a waste since you can overclock it yourself for free. If whatever version you're looking at comes with a game evaluate whether you'd buy that game anyway and whether or not the price increase for the game is worth it.

I made some suggestions above on how to spend the extra money. My suggestion would be a sound card if you have decent speakers (the XtremeMusic is my choice here), or RAID'ed hard drives (the Seagate 7200.10 250 GiB being my favorite for this).

Thanks ill probably consider getting more hard drives :) .

Why did you choose the EVGA card and not the Asus or BFG cards? They're speeds look a bit higher, im not wanting to overclock for a few months maybe I should get a BFG or Asus card for a bit more money?

Thanks again

PS. What would be the next good motherboard after the one you chose?
