Can anyone recommend any good reading material to get the best out of these two programs?

Im keen to get involved in making some videos and utilising aperture properly, at the moment Ive bought aperture and have the final cut trial, its obviously an expensive bit of software and I dont know if i need it over imovie for what im doing, but Id like to find out a bit more.

TBH I learnt all I needed for both of them through playing with them, then having a need to do something so ended up googling and more often than not the answer was in youtube. Last thing I learnt was in FCPX was multicam editing; awesome :)

I couldnt get my head around Final Cut at all when I tried it, I tried to mix a clip together the same way I would with imovie but found it pretty hard to do.

I guess Ill do that the next time I make one, stick on a guide and see, I need to do it sharpish while I have the 30 day trial though.

Personally found FCPX to be the easiest editing app to get to grips with, much more so than Adobe Premier Pro and After effects.

I do however struggle with Apple Motion quite a bit, but guess I'll just need to play with it a bit more.

For what it's worth, Lynda is my go-to place for any training/guides, here's one for Final Cut
