So what started as a budget of £500 has quadrupled.....!

I'd be very thankful if you guys could have a butchers over this spec and see if there's anything that won't match or work?

Will do more than fine for next 1,5year or so, then just buy new rig probably based on nehalem already.
Why paying 1500quid for PC that will last 24months if you can spend half of that for something that will do almost the same ;-).

Just because something is 2x more expensive, doesnt mean its 2x better, it's just more expensive because its NEW, you gonna pay 1,5k and 2months later it will be worth 900 while the diff in performance is maybe 10-20% for double the price.
