RE: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17613681
Sorry for making a new thread.
Current System
Conroe X6800 (Tuniq Tower 120 Cooler)
DFI Infinity 975x Motherboard
2Gb Corsair XMS2 PC8500 DDR2 Memory
7800GT (7900GTX DOA, kept refund waiting on decision..used friends spare
)
Enermax 620w PSU
Akase Eclipse 62 Case
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, going crossfire/SLI as far as I know is pointless at 1280x1024 or below, this is why im going for the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" Widescreen.
[Question 1]
If im' going for crossfire, is it pointless to go for a faster card along side the master card, eg.. mastercard + Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X TOXIC would be pointless?
[Question 2]
I'm going to overclock, that's why I bought a X6800 'unlocked multi' but...shamefully not on the current mobo I have
)
This is what i've been suggested along side my original plan, is it possible to watercool crossfire systems, if so.. would it reduce the performance on the CPU cooling?
Alphacool NexXxos XP (Skt 775)
Laing-Alphacool DDC-Ultra Pump (Modded with a Radiical plexi top with 1/2" barbs)
Thermochill PA120.3 Radiator
Danger Den Dual-bay 3.5" Resevoir (First time watercooling..Tline is a nono?)
7/16" Masterkleer tubing
Yate Loon D12SL-12 fans x3?
2x bottles of de-ionized water + Zerex Coolant
[Question 3]
Alternatively...I've considered phase-cooling, the ones here on OcUK.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Vapochill_Systems.html
I'm not sure how quiet (or loud) these systems are?
I could do something crazy and do water for GPU/NB and Phase for CPU.
I'm really not sure what to do, money is not an issue.
But my common sense tells me, go water first, see how it fairs out, get the CPU/GPU cooled and overclock away, I always have the option to get phase later on down the line, I don't need to rush into something OTT and stupid ;P
So I need final decisions here.
1: Get a crossfire or single set up. (going for a 24" Widescreen + Can I watercool both?)
2:Watercooling set up finalised and ok? (Need to source parts..pm's would be welcome) I understand i'm on Ocuk forums and I will be buying everything I can from here, but for example.. I can't get Laing-Alphacool DDC-Ultra Pump and Mod here
So is it allowed for people to email/pm me where? If not..sorry and I understand.
3: Phase.... probably not just yet, I guess I could get 3.8/4ghz on water?
It's just I don't want adding two more heat sources like two overclocked gpu's to hinder my cpu cooling performance by a huge hit.
Feel free to ask any question and I really, really appreciate any of you who take your time to help someone else
