You know the song at the beginning of Final Fantasy 10, The Heavy metal song while Tidus is playing Blizball.

Do you know the name of the song and band?

i always thought 7 was the best, but i tried it again recently and it wasn't half as good as i remember :(

X was very good, really looking forward to XIII :)

classic soundtrack too one would say

Whilst I won't turn this into a FF vs FF thread, I will discuss Final Fantasy soundtracks 'til the cows come home.

FFX was Uematsu-san's last soundtrack on a Final Fantasy game, one that he more a collaborator than a composer. Personally, I would put FFX at one of the weakest Final Fantasy soundtracks (possibly below even the Famicom releases).

If you think back 22 years to the release of Final Fantasy on the Nintendo Famicom, graphically things were very limited. Granted, sound was too, but the music, motifs and themes found in that game 22 years ago, have survived far more intact than any of the graphical themes, or gameplay mechanics. If you hear Prelude, or the majority of the Battle Themes, you will instantly think FF. If you saw gameplay of FFI, after playing FFVII, you wouldn't make any connection.

I'm kinda rambling, but I guess you'll see what I'm getting at. Despite my love for the FF, I really hate talking about the intricacies of them, because I always ramble!

There are many classic FF soundtracks, but really really FFX isn't one of them. (That's not to say it's bad though...)

You have very musically challenged ears - either that, or you've not actually played through "em all" and experienced the sonic and tonal diversity, or the differences in mood the soundtracks present ;)

I think Lost Odyssey is some of Uematsu's best work.

Especially "A Sign Of Hope" and "Parting Forever", which are great examples of how a simple melody (just like Prelude) is really effective.

I loved X, very involving and a great piece of story telling.

It lacks the ability to go where you want, when you want though, so VII is still my number 1.

It's the best FF I have ever played :)
Real passionate and moving story :) The real reason why FF are the best games of all time IMO. I wouldnt mind getting round to playing it again actually :).
