Okay im at the part where you have to beat the Demon Wall. I know that if you defeat them both you can get the demonsbane weapon but I defeated the first one then the second, activated the gem and it formed stairs at either side. Went through the first door then the second and it takes me to the place where the demonsbane is supposed to be, I've searched high and low and can't find ANY chest what so ever.

And quite frankly I can't be bothered constantly searching around for it which I've done because it just keeps spawning tons of fire flans. Any ideas where else it would be?

there is something like a 50% chance of it spawning and then a 20% chance of the chest containing a demonsbane. If you can't find it odds are it hasnt spawned, so reload your game and try again. If it contains something other than a demonsbane... try again... yawn.

Stupid treasure system. The 1% chance of a zodiac spear for example is madness, you have to open the same chest (which is reasonably challenging to get to in the first place) up to 100 times just to get the damn weapon. All because you opened a couple of completely normal chests right near the start of the game, stopping you from getting it for definate.

Stupid game.

I hate to be cynical, but I think the zodiac spear is a dirty trick to make you buy the guide book. There's no indication what so ever that you shouldn't open those chests.

I couldn't agree more, lets hope FFXIII is a better effort.

70 percent chance the chest appears then 50 percent chance its an item then another 50 percent that its the sword, if you take the set of stairs to your right when you enter that room i think it actually helps, as i got 2 in a row doing it that way, if the chest doesnt appear travel 3 zones away and try again.

i love this installment, clocked well over 50 hours so far and not even half way through, though as people have mentioned sometimes checking a guide online is the only way to get things

Well actually I bought the guide but I always do for FF. I bought one for Final Fantasy too. Great guides by Authorised Collection with so much detail. Worth every penny.

Forget the Demonsbane sword, I got it after a few tries but never used it at all as I went for a Deathbringer Sword which is much better (ATK 90 + K.O effect)

As for the Zodiac Spear, I haven't got that as I opened the first chest but again, if you spend the time farming ingredients for the Tournesol and get that you have a better weapon, it is lower in ATK 150 vs 140 but the combo rate is higher at 12% vs 4% for the Zodiac Spear and both will do 9999 damage later on so the more combo's the better the damage.

If you really want a cool setup, stel the Genji Gloves from the Gilgamesh hunt and use those with *** Masamune you get after beating him, you get a combo change of 72%

My brother bought the guide. It is actually a really good product. But I still think it feels like you're being forced into buying it because there is just no way to know about the zodiac spear chests without a guide.

I'm playing through FFX at the moment and I'm really missing having the guide book. I used to have it but now I can't find it. Free guides online are no where near as good, it's just too hard to find the information you want.

I've managed to obtain every other decent weapon i know of, the tournesol doesnt take as long to make as everyone says, took about 4 hours. The genji gloves and masamune were difficult for me because i took on gilgamesh at around lvl 40 as i wanted to get it early :E.

Once you have the tournesol and masamune you're pretty much unbeatable with a bit of thought. Just buff those two characters with the best armor, then set up protect, shell and lure gambits and have a third character way off at the back with a rifle with healing gambits. Make sure the person with the masamune has a lower healing gambit than the others as at lower health he combos more (if you get it right you average at least 8 hits per turn).

Aside from yiazmat that will take down pretty much every mob you will ever encounter, and the only difference with yiaz is that you need to equip windbreakers whenever he casts cyclone to half the insane damage it does. With Omega you just need to set up res, reverse and attack gambits as he only has one attack that reverse will nullify.

Still havent bothered completing it, i've done all of the hardest challenges in the game, i just don't care about the storyline one bit so cant be bothered wading through wave after wave of weak enemies to finish the game.
