Which ones arnt online only as i wana play the latest ones but there friggen online only ones grr.

Gona be replaying ffx through the emulator for the added aa but i was wondering if theres a similar ff game that would be nice to play with voices but nicer pc type gfx. For ps2 or pc.

I think their was a newer ff game that was sp but it sucked with the weird fighting system.

The only online Final Fantasys are 11 and soon to be 14.

And 13's fighting system rocked, 12's sucked!

But yeah, 12 and X-2, are the only others that are out for the PS2, that you could possibly emulate to make prettier.

Wrong, so very wrong, but everyone's entitled to their opinion. I wouldn't recommend going anywhere near XIII if you're looking to see what Final Fantasy's buzz is all about. The best thing you could do is pick up a SNES and play through some of the older ones, like V and VI. Or, get VII - IX from the PSN store. I didn't play XI and I can't get on with XIV at all, but the older FFs up to X are pretty much all fantastic, in their own ways. XII was good, not as golden as I expected at the time, but the more active battle system may appeal to you. XIII is a fat man farting on the underground.

Mostly right, though IX also sucked :p

Can't say I've given any after X a try... it was okay but I didn't really feel attached to the characters at all and hence didn't play much of it.

I disagree! Well, alright, most of it sucked. The story was weak, the characters were unlovable, the Trance system sucked nuts. I find it hard to say exactly why I liked IX, but I did - the chocobo forests, for example, I remember as being loads of fun, but I'm sure if I played them again the tedium and teeth-grinding frustration of digging into a really deep hole just as the clock runs out or just getting to the end and finding 1gil will come screaming back to me. It worked, and I'll doubtless play it through again sometime soon, for at least the 4th time.

You can get all the old ones on a GBA and 4,5 and 6 all came out on PSX aswell (or emulate them if you are so inclined, not that I condone that stuff) which means thankfully you don't have to go back and buy a SNES :D

If I had to pick 3 to play it would be VI, IX and X. Although VII is obviously worth a look, it didn't get all that monumental praise for nothing and XII is pretty good, provided your not jaded on MMO combat by now (It's not online but features real-time combat aswell as persistent enemies, just like an MMO).

All this is coming from someone whose played them all and loved every minute of it, so you really can't go wrong no matter what you choose.

well obviously XII and XIII are the "latest" that arent online

I enjoyed XIII for the battle system and weapons/armor system, lacked content and story wasn't great however (for me anyway)

I thought XII's new battle system was a stroke of genius. Just a shame the story was so desperately dull I lost the drive to play through it.

Voice acting in Final Fantasy began at X so that leaves you with X-2 (which you will probably regret playing) and 12, 13 is a Ps3 game.

I agree that the better Final Fantasy games are the older ones. But theres no Voice acting to satisfy you in them and the graphics are obviously dated.

Pretty much agree. I liked XII - once you get past the fact you could still run around during a battle, you soon realise that the battle system isn't really that much different; it just camoflages it.

XIII though... Gut wrenchingly poor.

Would be nice if they did a anniversary edition of viii i think that was the most popular and just add voice acting instead of reading all that damn text. I mean txt was ok on the snes cos its pretty old hardware and no real voice ability but the ps2 can do it but viii didnt do it i duno why. Would have been my fav new zelda a link to the past equivalent imo.

VII was the 'biggest' one, though VIII was way more fun than I remembered last time I played through it.

The only official PC versions of the main numbered Final Fantasy games were VII and VIII, which are obviously old. XI and the upcoming XIV as you know are online MMO games.

Something like XIII would look awesome if Square-Enix decided to do a PC version, but that is highly unlikely. Piracy and barely a target audience to cater for would be the biggest reasons.

The best you can get for a modern single player JRPG on the PC is The Last Remnant, which I throughly enjoyed and is far superior to the Xbox 360 version. This game was kind of like a test-bed for Square-Enix to do a decent PC version, but it kind of failed (Sales wise), so don't be surprised if all they will ever do for this platform is just MMO games.

If you have a decent spec'd PC though, then XII on a PS2 emulator & with the right graphics filters/settings will look quite beautiful. And regardless of some people's opinions, this one is my personal favourite of the PS2 Final Fantasy games.

*wince* Let me translate that for you.

Which ones aren't online, as I only want to play the latest ones, but they're frigging only MMO ones grr.

Going to be replaying FF X through an emulator for the better graphics, but I was wondering if there's a similar FF game that would be nice to play with voice acting but with better graphics. For ps2 or pc.

I think there was a recent FF game that was SP but it sucked because of the weird fighting system.

To actually answer your question though, there are only 2 online Final Fantasy games, I'm not sure where you got the impression that there are loads of them? Final Fantasy 11 and 14 are online, the rest of them aren't. So take your pick.
