Final Fantasy VII - "Remake"

Yeah that would be very cool. Have option for jap/English voices or no voices at all. I would play it through three times to decide which I prefer then play over and over and over.....
Its on psn store, look past the graphics and enjoy, then play 6-10, even 12 is worth a play.

Ok the guy was a bit rude about dissing the other games at the end. But the crowd all had the same reaction and excitement.
General crowd reaction was great. That guy specifically though was an idiot.
Obviously thrilled with the news, biggest FF7 nerd going.
However...
Is it just me or is anyone else extremely doubtful it'll be a full on remake. I mean, there's just so much scale to the game. Can you see them adding in all those little moments and sidequests? Wutai sidequests (incl Wutai Pagoda) Cosmo Canyon, Costa Del Sol condo, the Tiny Bronco crash and the very gradual opening up of the world map? Digging up fossils? Going to space? Chocobo breeding? The Gold Saucer and all its mini-games? The motorcycle battle chases? The battle of Fort Condor mini-game? Cloud's cross-dressing escapades? Materia summons? etc etc.
I mean I WANT to believe they'll do an actual full on "Remake" but I just can't see it. Instead I feel they'll pick bits-and-pieces of the original and disregard other pieces, including major chunks of the original, simply because it's a huge investment. I'm even seriously doubtful they'll have a fully explorable world map, it'll likely be more similar to Mass Effect galaxy map.
I know I'm cynical but... someone please convince me otherwise, I really want to get insanely excited but because its SquareEnix I just can't see it happening.

I just started playing the original
D) recently, first time in 15+ years.I'll buy this day one, but i won't get my hopes up, there's no way this'll live up to expectation.
Just played this, I don't think i'd miss it.
They'd better leave this in.

Final Fantasy 7 one of the best games me and my granddad has every played, cant tell you how many times we finished this. Im happy to know its actually being made, so they can take their time and get it perfect for all I care

I really enjoy this mini game, it's simplistic and easy but I still really enjoyed it

The FFVII materia / magic system is my fave of all RPGs including all fibal fantasy series and persona. ATB ftw.

I will buy this, without a doubt. Loved the game and the era of FF.
However, it's created finally to stabilise their finances and none of the original team are there, so I do not have high hopes for it.
They need to tread carefully since this is arguably the biggest of the their IPs.
If you find new relevant info I will endeavour to keep the OP updated.

I must be the only one who's happy about this then. The combat system was good at the time, but lets be honest its had it's day and it could do with an update.
