Final Fantasy VII

IMO the industry has moved much faster than RPG's did. FF was first released in '87. I don't believe it moved the series on much in the first 15 years(FFX was the last i played from start to finish). Compare this to the progress in sports, fighters, shooters and even genres that weren't even around in '87. Going from the fifa to ISS, both on the Snes, was like night and day and that was only over a matter of months.

Just out of interest here, besides Final Fantasy what other RPG's have you played?

Erm... I apologise for bumping this, but I don't suppose anyone has any news regarding this remake?

The news is, as is usual concerning an FF7 remake, is that there is no news. If they are making it, they are not talking about it. Some of the developers have said they would like to do it if they were not busy on other projects, but at the moment they are.

Several key developers have stated they are 'interested' in doing a remake, it has also been stated that there is one more project left in the Final Fantasy VII compilation left to be completed. My money is that its FFVII.

On a side note, anyone tried this game in their PS3? I assume it works 100%?

How does it look? I run through an HDMI cable to a 42" HDTV, I don't want it looking like lego. :/

If this comes on the PS3 and not on the 360 I WILL buy a ps3 for this game alone!

I fell dirty thinking about the tech demo ( how sad!)

Yes, works perfect, no, doesn't look good. The up scaling isn't very effective due to the 2-D backgrounds.

I am currently playing the game on my PSP and it is much better as it is a smaller screen, I did find that the game is much shorter than I remember.

I wouldn't say no to a re-working of FF7. I adored 7.

But what I'd rather was Square to pool all their efforts into making FF13 the best game of the series, eclipsing every single Final Fantasy made in terms of characterisation, depth, story, customisation, battle system, graphics, audio, mini-games etc.

It's probably not going to happen, but if I had one wish for the series, that would be it.

In terms of characterization and story, if FFXII is anything to go by they seem to be stepping away from that as a priority. My ideal FFXIII would be the FFXII combat system with the characterization standard of FFX and the storyline standard of FFVII.

I think they have lost the power to make a good story like in 7 and 8. Can't blame them exactly everything is judged next to number 7's story, its either going to be too similar or too different what ever they do. We need a good story with twists and turns that we don't see coming rather than setting out the whole mission from the beginning (i.e not you must visit 6 holy temples to save the world etc etc).

Agreed, In 7 and 8, You really had no idea what was coming up did you. Excellent

I played through 7 and 8 recently on my PSP, playing through 9 for the first time on my PSP at the moment. Must admit, 7 is still class, 8 still leaves me a bit empty and Im finding 9 'OK'. I also borrowed a mates PS2 just for 10 and 12, not that far into 10 and havent played 12 at all - bit worried at some users comments that 12 isnt all that???

This is all in preparation for 13 on the PS3!!
