Final Fantasy VII..

I'd love a remake, but I'd want more added TBH.

I don't think it'd be too hard to appease all sides either. I'd like to see more weapons / armour configs, break limits (and limit breaks I guess :p), extra materia / enemy skills, optional stupid hard bosses like in FFX, monster arena(a la FFX) or similar, extra dungeons and towns, expanded current towns (I'd love to see more of Midgar), extra quests from townsfolk, expanded gold saucer, etc etc. (Note none of this changes story line).

But, make it totally optional. Allow the current game time-line and events to occur exactly as they do now, should the player wish. But, should they wish to spend more time grinding away getting bigger and better weapons, materia and levels, allow it. None of it would have to interfere with the original game mechanics (which I still love - and am currently playing :D).

I also think summons would need to be re-thought. Its pretty redundant in FF7 as it is (apart from chocobo for a little while, which is handy. And Hades to pair with added effect and Phoenix with Final blow). They don't get equipped in my party at all. Again, maybe a more FFX / FFXIII approach where they become more of a party member.

I love FF7 for what it is, but if it was remade, I think it'd be mad not to add more non story-line content.

NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO no.

The ideal remake has none of those spin-offs mentioned, nor would the plot take those into account! Even Zak shouldn't get any more exposure than he got in the original. The story is purely about Cloud's struggle with Sephiroth, and nothing more. The vast majority of those wanting the remake specifically demand that the spin-offs have absolutely nothing to do with it - and rightfully so. Leave that horrible poison out of it.

Much like the later two Matrix films, the further exposition only sullies the original and really have no place.

The spin-offs I've played have been great! Crisis Core was about Zack, and his storyline was just fantastic

The film was awesome as well, I really enjoyed it. Mostly for the fight scenes but still.

If they do remake 7 then you are right they should definitely just follow the original completely! However, the hidden bit with Zack should be from Crisis Core, as it was really touching :(

Final fantasy 7 is simply the best game I have ever played, It came at the right time, I was 11 at the time and making my way from games like sonic and mario and was looking for something with a story.

13 years later and I must have finished it well over 10 times, Killed all the weapons multiple times and spent far too long on it, If I played it for the first time today it probably wouldn't be the same but I honestly don't think I will ever play a game that I enjoy as much.

If a remake was released I would have it pre-ordered the second I heard about it, square really need to get their asses in gear

Pretty much exactly the same with me, everything about it was just "right". I remember in school we used to argue about who had the best party setup. :D

A remake should just be just that, a remake, exactly the same game but with improved graphics and some surround sound. Nothing should change. Not changing locations or names of things, not changing the battle system to the FF13 style crap. Not even adding voices to the characters. Final Fantasy to me is all about the text speak, Turn based battles and MASSIVE open worlds

All the games from FFX have been crap and nothing like the originals
Dunno if Im just getting old now but I tend to hate a lot of the games that come out these days. Amazing graphics yes, but they just dont seem to have the gameplay and replayablility of the games when I was a lad :(

Id also love a remake of Zelda Link to the Past in HD graphics. Old games are the best
