Final Fantasy XII Memory card woes

Hey, I just bought this game, i played it on my friends PS2 just fine, saved it right at the first save crystal, now i've arrived home and im getting "Failed to read memory card" whenever I try to load, when I look at the memory card on the browser i don't have FFXII data but instead corrupted data.

I didn't take the card out while the PS2 was on or anything, so what's happening?

all my other games load just fine, it's FFXII which isn't working. Can I format my card or something?

Is it an official card? I've had all sorts of problems with unofficial cards in the past.

In regards to formatting the card, apparently the only way is with an action replay.

Are you both running PAL Final Fantasy 12?

Why not just delete the data from the memory card and start over? if its the first crystal u cant be more then an hour into the game. Ive had it do the same thing to me sometimes, but I just deleted the data and carried on with a new game as normal.

i got this about 15 hours into FF7....i nearly cried

that was an unofficial card, never had one since
