We will roll a guild when this game comes out, we were originally not going to but things changed. Should be a decent a game till WildStar, and who knows maybe even longer, we will start off pretty casual so if anyone is interested contact us via our website.

Cheers

Having never played a single FF game ever, sell it to me Nem !!

I read it's cross platform, does that mean it's not a proper MMo? Something about you can change your characters class anytime ? I like to grind, can you grind mobs/instances freely to level up or is it more story driven ?

More than anything though, will the PvP be any damn good !!!!????

lol sorry I cant I have never played it either in any form what so ever :p, tho from what I'm told its pretty decent, and as you can pick it up for less than £16 at shopto, thought why not! I also hope the pvp will be good!

I was in closed Beta and I've preordered it so it must have done something right :)

It is a proper MMO -PS3 (and eventually PS4) owners share the same servers as Windows users. You get the option to use either a game pad or keyboard and mouse as control system.

Its' USP is that once you hit 10th level in your main class you can then crosstrain in any other class (this includes crafting and gathering and yes you can just gather or craft if that's your bag). the main advantage of this is for every 5 levels of your main class you can use one other skill from another class - so for instance my Thaumaturgist (their basic wizard class) is cross trained in healing so he can cast basic heal spells and has access to the lowest "shield" spell.

To swap classes all you do is equip their weapon or tool - it's very quick and is explained as you level. PVP wise I have no idea - ATM it's very story driven for your first toon but you will have to grind your 2nd or third off classes as most of the open world quests are tied to your main quest progression (this is worrying some people but TBH I don't anticipate getting more than 10 levels or so in any secondaries - if I want to get higher I'll start an alt as that class.

I really enjoyed the beta - I got three different toons as far as the beta story line went.

Combat wise it's your generic holy trinity of class types with tab targeting, hot keyed skills etc - pretty much nothing new. Remember the reason it's a Real Reborn is they tried to be very different in the original FFXIV and it stank - an appalling control system which really punished the user - TBH I wish they'd tried a bit more originality but they really need to make this work this time round ...
Graphically it's very nice - anyway Phase 4 / Open beta should be in 2 weeks so you can see yourself.

I've been in the Beta for this, but couldn't really get into it. I'm going to have another bash though, and hopefully change my mind - as I love the FF art style/worlds.

I had preordered but asked for it to be cancelled.
I haven't played since they put in the duty finder and don't think I would be bothered to play much at launch either

Well will give it a shot, at worse I don't like it and play for a short while, helps fill the gap till WS, at best I end up playing it for years to come :D, at under 16 quid I think it's worth a go.

Thank you very much for your application to be a FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn beta tester!

Not sure about buying it yet, hopefully the beta test (if I get in) will help me decide. No rush though, plenty to play from the steam sale lol.

I been through the beta for the original Final Fantasy XIV and the new ARR 2.0 version. I can say without a doubt that the game is far superior to its first release.

Phase 4 (open beta) should be starting in the near future so I would recommend trying it then to see if you like before pre-ordering or buying.

Its a much more casual type of MMORPG and the duty finder is pretty much a godsend as it does all the legwork for getting together in groups to actually do things, which in my opinion was the biggest problem I had with MMORPGS when you only have a short time to do things and spend it all trying to get people together to achieve anything.

I reserved some spots in this thread for Free Companies/Guilds - do you mind if I put the info for The Immortals there as an OcUK guild?

I was in the 3rd beta, having missed the 2nd due to other commitments.

I've found it pretty intuitive so far, using an X360 controller instead of the usual KB + Mouse combination.

I did get kind of bored shortly before level 9, which is a shame because a lot of the interesting stuff opens up at level 10. You will spend a lot of the early levels running around talking to NPCs inside town, with only a few trips to the outside world. Combat is quite interesting, even though I didn't really understand the need or importance of combos, at the low levels they don't offer any additional damage.

I'll be in the next beta :)

I was in the 3rd beta on PS3 (even though I have it pre-ordered for PC :P), main reason was I was very intrigued how they could get it to work well with a gamepad. Well, it works fantastically IMHO, they have done a fantastic job making it work with a controller!

Graphically it is very pretty, even on console! I played an archer on Beta, had a lot of fun, although think I will roll a mage when game launches officially, as I love a bit of magic :P

It gives you bonus XP also!

I have my reservations about the game, but I'm going to wait until retail arrives (what comes after Deja vu? lol)

Basically, if you like WoW gameplay and the Final Fantasy setting, then you'll love this game.
