Hi Guys,

Anyone play this game? Can anyone recommend it at all?

I have read a lot of stuff about it but im still unsure whether to purchase this game.

Thanks!

Tbh its a choice out of this and RIFT i have read both games but RIFT seems to be going for it from what you have said, im coming from the endless **** from WoW and i just want a new game! lol

It is complete dreck. They aren't charging subs at the moment, due to a disastrous launch on PC, and you still couldn't force me to log in.

I have played LOTRO but i found there was a lack of PvP action in it and judging by the amount of views on FFXIV im better off buying RIFT lol

There is no choice, RIFT every time in every way. I am a huge FFX fan but this mmo is the worst out there in every single way utter $hit, google it they sacked most of the dev and had to make a public appolgie to fans that the game was so carp.

I'm going to guess that the answer for you is probably play RIFT, but i'll try and expand on that a little bit.

Rift takes what WoW did, and it polishes and refines it very well, as well as adding a few neat touches like the rifts and invasions that you don't see in WoW, coming from WoW it'll feel very familiar.

FFXIV on the other hand is a totally different game, it may be in the same genre but that is where the similarities end. It was designed from the start to not be like WoW, in some ways they succeeded greatly (it has a really open class system and a massive crafting system) but then they failed miserably in other areas (combat, world design, UI).

The game was clearly mismanaged in some ways (the UI was obviously built for a console, when it was releasing on PC first). They have a new team in charge who are working frantically to fix the issues, they are making a totally new UI, and are doing a lot of work to add quests and other content, they are patching rigorously.

If you want a status quo game, go for Rift, if you want something that is trying to be radical, and partly succeeding, go for FFXIV

Well yes... that would be because lotro is a pve game. If it's pvp you want, Rift is your only option from the 2, FF has none at all.

Doubt it will even make it to ps3 now. I was looking forward to it but guess it just wasn't to be, had so much potential to improve on FFXI

The problem was SE released the poorly made game expecting to bank on the Final Fantasy brand. They should have known better.

I enjoyed ffxiv for a while, ui was quite a staunch defender of the game on these forums but even I quit in the end.

Combat was cumbersome
ui was plain awkward
low on content

they done certain things like class and crafting system fantastically but ultimately there were too many flaws for me to perservere with the good points.

I was on the verge of suing square for this ****, but the collectors edition for £40 as I was sure after they had experience with 11 that this would be very good, I couldn't have been more wrong.

I've had about 12 apology emails of Square basically saying how crap their game is, that's nice of them..

the game had a terrible launch. its got potential and the new team will be bringing it up to scratch in the coming months

even if it recovers and is as good as 11 was though, it will still be a niche game. its an acquired taste... worth a try in 4-5 months i'd say.
