Ok basically I've been swayed to go with the i7, so the setup is pretty much how I want it. My final questions are as follows, mainly compatibility checks:

1) Do i need to buy any additional backplate etc for the cpu cooler, it looks very big and heavy mounted on the motherboards but says it comes with some sort of fixing kit, I presume that will work with the mobo selected?

2) I need to get a new PSU with this setup as my old PSU has already been claimed for another system! I've looked at a couple but I'm a little confused from the specs. I need one that will supply power to the ATX 24 pin connector and the 8 pin connector thing on the mobo; I also need the 8 pin and 6 pin pc-e power connectors for the graphics card! What PSU would supply all of these things around 700W? I don't really care about modular, its a bonus but not needed.

Thanks in advance!

Excellent, ordered all the above kit, with the coolermaster psu recommended :)

Also got a new cheapo pc case to put the old parts in for my mum to have, and an sata dvdrw :)

Should be coming tomorrow, cant wait to build it, although will probably have to wait till Sunday time :(

Thanks everyone for help in previous threads and this one :)

One I've had for ages, its a *thinks*

Silverstone TJ07 maybe? Its a huge black case and cost probs approx £200 when I got it 3 years ago.

I have the same cooler on my I7-965 it comes with everything needed and does the job well!

However, its very heavy so be careful about moving the PC around and also be aware that its so large it only leave about 5-6CM between the top of it and the case side panel so if you have a case fan in the side panel it will not fit and will have to be removed!

No case fan in the side panel, the TJ07 has about 3 fans at the bottom for intakes and then some at the back and top, so it should be ok I hope!

Shame OCUK took so long to get 280's back in at a decent price or I might have got one. No real shame though as the 4870x2 is better, just not bang for buck but nevermind!

Now i just need to cancel all my plans for the weekend :)

Buy a Scythe Kama Bay for extra air intake into your TJ07.

It will provide direct GPU cooling, its really cheap (like £15), has a dust filter, and is known to work well in that case.

How does it provide the direct GPU cooling? It looks just like a huge fan taking up 3 x 5.25 slots in the front, odd.

Any pics of it in a TJ07?
