After many a week stressing over what to get, numerous changes, and asking on here, all in the whilst; waiting for funds to accrue in my bank account I have come up with this:

Already have:

- Antec 900 Case
- Samsung SH-S223Q/BEBN 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter (x2)
- Samsung SpinPoint F1 640GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

Looking to get:

I don't really game at that high a resoultion at the minute , as I am on an FX5200 at the minute, lol, on a 17" LCD Samsung monitor for a while, until I get my room decorated, then I may go upto a 22" or 24" LCD monitor, maybe HD? But I also plan to hook this up to my 40" Sony 1080p LCD in my room aswell as my monitor.

Computer will be used exclusively for gaming, with light stuff such as messenger, internet browsing, and media player/itunes. Never overclocked before, but may dabble with this rig abit.

Just wanna get an opinion to wether this will be sufficient for a while, I don't have any recent games due to my current computer, like COD4, Crysis, Bioshock etc. but would like to get them, aswell as one I'm looking at getting; Fallout 3.

All help is appreciated as always.

Cheers.

Very nice system, that will breeze everything atm bar Crysis but will still run it at high settings at a high res.

Just checking: Your not going to crossfire that gfx card are you? If you think you might then it might be more benefitial looking into an X48 mobo.

I don't think I'll be doing crossfire, but would the cheapest X48 board (DFI Lan Party DK X48-T2R be a decent enough board? As I can't really afford to stress much from what I have to spend.

Is the regular Asus Rampage Formula X48 a good board for crossfire then? I know it's more expensive over the P5Q. And would crossfiring two Powercolour HD 4870 512's be that beneficial over a 4870 X2, or would I better getting an 4870 X2 and waiting for quite a while until the price comes down, then buy another to crossfire if I need the extra?

Right, So I think I have it sewn for the minute, lol, after discussing it with some of my mates, I've decided upon going for crossfire, just dunno what yet:

Toying with going for an X48 Rampage Formula, with 4GB GeIL/Corsair/OCZ 8500, then either crossfired 4850's or 4870's, or a single 4870 X2, then having it crossfired later down the line with another X2 when more money resides in my bank account and *** prices have fell.

Question I ask will the corsair PSU up there be sufficient enough? I should imagine so.

I'm reviving this thread for two questions:

I'm going to order some of this kit today, if I do, will it ship today and be able to arrive on Monday, or will it ship on Monday and arrive Tuesday on the cheapest shipping option? I ask because I'm gonna get it delivered at work rather than home.

And will that rating PSU be alight for running the X48/E8600/Geil 8500, and 4870X2 then eventually, 2x 4870X2's in crossfire?

*EDIT: Nevermind about the first question, just looked at the delivery dates in the checkout and it can only arrive on Tuesday.

lol, so I will have to shell out another £60 for another version of Windows if I ever want to change my mobo, which doesn't even come with 64bit in the box by all accounts?

PSU should be fine for one 4870X2 and the rest of your rig, but for dual 4870X2 cards i would want something more powerfull like the Tagan PipeRock TG900-BZ 900w Modular BZ Series PSU

Though it costs more for the PSU this cost would be easily made up if you got the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.16GHz (1333FSB) CPU instead of the E8600. Theyre practically the same speed and yet its a £70 saving. There is no way i would buy the overpriced E8600.

I'm not paying for the processer so it's ok in that respect, would the 800w Tagan be powerful enough for two X2's, anyone?
