I promise not to bother ya all much longer for advice!

ok this my finished spec, i hope, lol. could some1 give it the once over and confirm it'll do what it's supposed to, namely play new games at pretty decent settings plus a little dvd coping and web browsing

i was advised to go with 1333mhz ram as opposed to 1600 as the 1333 is better with i5. that sound about right? i was also told to get 2 hdd's and and set them up in raid0 but i've decided against that-tho i'm not sure why?! :p

in honesty would it be worth setting up a raid0 system thats mainly for gaming?

ok ok i know you're all probably bored with my incessant questions :(

so i'm just gonna go ahead and click 'buy' in the next half hour- tho probably 30 seconds later someone will post back and scream NOOOO that bit wont work well with that bit! lol

cheers and thank you. chancing my arm here but could u answer the 2 minor questions i raised in my first post re 1333 vs 1600 and the raid0 would changing either see a reasonable performance increase? :D

Raid 0 will make games and apps load faster...but with the added risk of data loss if either drive fails... your risk choice

But the F3 is a fast enough drive anyway...try 1 first and go with a second later perhaps?

RAID 0 should increase performance, I have used this in the past and gone back to a single HD and not really felt I have missed anything.

The memory again I suspect you would only see a performance in benchmarking, day to day you probably wont see any difference, it may help with overclocking, sometime due to price dfference I may go with the higher speed ram.

ah right okey dokey re the hdd. and yeah no plans for ocing. least not for the foreseable future. took me long enough to figure out about the hardware, probably take another 6months to work out ocing! that mean i'm ok with the currently selected ram? or should i move to 1600?

I personally would not see the point in buying an extra hdd and running in raid just for games. I might be totally wrong tho

that was the general feeling i was getting from others in fairnes robgti. think its really just a preference thing. boot times and load etc improves but no improvement in the actually gaming itself. but i could be totally wrong. only going by what others are saying- standing on the shoulders of giants as they say! lol
