I've been going over this list for weeks now changing parts as I do more research but I think I've finally settled on all the parts, just wondering if there's any input on anything that might be better suited. I'm relatively happy with the overall price and list is as follows:

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core 5.00GHz

Lian Li Galahad II Trinity SL-INF 61.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX ATX AM5 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory

Crucial P3 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24 GB Video Card

Lian Li O11D EVO RGB ATX Mid Tower Case

Lian Li UNI SL120 V2 Addressable RGB Black 120mm Fan Triple Pack with Controller

Lian Li UNI SL120 V2 Addressable RGB Black 120mm Fan

Lian-Li UNI SL120 V2 Reverse Blade Addressable RGB Black 120mm Fan x 3

I don't need a PSU as I'll be using my Corsair 1000w which I've had a while now and obviously I'll be using some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste.

You could save quite a bit of money there, but if you're happy with the price then it doesn't matter?

I could save some money and I'm still not 100% sure I'll buy all those fans but it's been a dream build for many many years now and I figure if i'm going to do it I'll do it the once until it becomes severely outdated

Get a better SSD lol
A QLC drive for a main drive after spending hundreds on pointless ARGB fans????

Any recommendations on what? I've never actually used Solid State drives on motherboards before so it's something entirely new to me

As it's such a high-spec build, I would not settle for any less than an SSD with DRAM

The usual suspects are (in no particular order):
Samsung 990 pro
WD SN850X
Crucial T500
Seagate Firecuda 530
SK hynix Platinum P41 / Solidigm SSD P44 PRO
Kingston Fury Renegade
Adata XPG GAMMIX S70 BLADE

I would go with any on the list, whichever is cheapest on the day

Edit: added a couple more choices

Thanks for this, I've decided to go with Kingston Fury Renegade 2TB M.2-2280 4.0 x4 NVME SSD, I think that rounds out the build really but I will have a look at some other cases as Tetras mentioned.

they do look super good when set up properly though! have a look around for some examples, I remember being wowed by them years ago, it's probably what set off the OP's dream of having them
good job they come with a controller, because that board only has x3 argb headers

Yeah you're pretty much spot on, I'd have gone for another air cooled basic setup if I hadn't seen those and thought at some point I will build one when my current rig starts to struggle.

have above case and fans

remember the evo rgb has the bar running down the front left corner between the front glass and side glass panes...as you're going for that look, more modern cases do away with this so the bar doesn't block your view..i@ll put both the white and black below(easier to see on the wite)
I personally didn't bother with an aio this time, the 7800x3d doesn't need that kind of cooling
the bottom and side 3 fans with be draeing air in so you'll need 6 reverse blade fans, and the aio in the top(or my case the final 3 fans) will be exhausting so standard fans
Personally, yes it's fun and if money isn't an issue go for it, but you do pay through the nose for looks. You've got a basis mobo and ssd in your rig..I'd rather get better ones before splurging on the case/fans..

I've switched out the SSD for a Kingston Fury Renegade 2TB M.2-2280 4.0 x4 NVME SSD instead but I'd be interested in recommendations for motherboard. I'm not bothered about wifi or bluetooth but I can swap it out for something more appropriate and maybe I can then decide if I want all the fans, I may have 3 on the side and none on the bottom, can always be added at a later date.

I hear you man, the only comparison that I can make is owning the car that you have always wanted, not that you are going to look at while you are driving, now i'm not claiming that some bling is going to make a computer faster or better to drive but insert your own choice of car here,,if money was no real problem I'd happily have spent 32k on a recent for sale peugoet 205 dimma in black, just for the looks, though that did have a turbo peugoet 305 goodwood engine in it with an Lsd gearbox, which makes the car much more interesting apart from its looks ,
my second choice for the looks, would be an original ford mustang also, in black no wait, have you seen the new electric RGB DMC delorean that has the finger touch slides to open the angel wing doors?
in black ofc
the outside lighting on on that beast is insanely good, it follows the top of the bumper and ends up blending into the front side of the open door, and the whole of it will sweep left or right when indicating

FWIW I'm pretty new to the RGB scene too, but i'm sat on a £3k PC so I/ wanted it to shine esp considering that I am still on a well old case that has no windows, I live with the lights shining through the massive side, top, and front mesh on the case, that does have a 20cm fan on the side there but there is sill mesh around it where you could have added extra fans if you wanted to, plus the side fan is this semi opaque plastic that lights up whatever colour klight is shining behind it and removing the bottom three 3.5" drive bay front plates has left a supercool tunnel that can be looked down into guts of theRGB PC, it looks really good IMHO,
I have a lot of people come around my house, carers family, friends, sons friends etc, everyone mentions how good my PC looks, and it makes me smile, especially, when I can say, what is your favourite colour, and make the whole thing glow like that, personally I prefer rainbow though except for my peripherals, I like those in Borg Green, go figure =]

Talking of cars I did splurge a bit on my daily, nice little 520bhp RS3 which I don't like to think about the cost plus the motorbike in the garage that doesn't get used much but I've always fancied a nice clean RGB PC

FYI: the Antec C5 ARGB has 7 pre-installed 120mm fans and the Lian Li 216 RGB has 1x rear 140mm and 2x 160mm ARGB.

Ok, I'm sold I've dumped the Lian Li plus all the fans for the Antec C5 ARGB in black

I suppose my only remaining question now is the money I've saved would be worth swapping out some other parts? Motherboard being one if there are any suggestions or possible spend a bit more on the CPU? I'm open to ideas and thanks to everyone contributing to this, you've really helped me out

Thanks for the replies, I've switched out the motherboard for the Asus B650e-f but I've kept the Lian li 360 liquid cooler. Now I'm just trying to decide if the Antec C5 will actually fit on the shelf as it's only 260mm wide but the case is 285mm wide and I'm wondering if the feet will sit on the shelf or overhang in which case the airflow at the bottom is severely reduced.

At least the hardware side is sorted, just the case and aesthetics to figure out. Thank you for everyone's input, I'll be sorting out my basket and ordering the parts later this week.

I like the antec C3 personally..having the 011d, you realise how fat it is sitting on the desk. prefer the thinness of the corsair 5000X, and got a phanteks NV5...the C£ has fans included though...still get open look of the fishtank type design, with the tinness of a standard case
Asus B650e-e board just been dropped to £230, so only £15 more than the B650e-f..for me, that's a no brainer for £15 more..different when it was £70 more

Just swapped for the B650e-e, I had seen the C3 but I'm going to see if I can find out if the C5 would fit, C3 is a good compromise though.

the thermalright is less than 30% of the price of that lian-li, and comes in white too

I may circle back round to this once I've totted up the totals it might be a good investment, I've come to realise you're kinda paying for the name with Lian Li

(I will never recommend something that I would never use myself :) )
Ok, you've worn me down, ditched the Lian Li, can't seem to find any frozen prism 360 in stock so I've opted for the Thermalright Frozen Notte 360 Black ARGB which comes in at £70.89

Thermalright Frozen Notte 360 BLACK ARGB

definitely in stock (both non-rgb and black rgb and white rgb) your google skills are lacking lol
google: Thermalright Frozen Prism 360 White ARGB CPU Liquid Cooler,Efficient PWM Controlled Pump 3300RPM,3×TL-E12 series PWM Fan,Water Cooling Computer Parts,For AMD AM4/AM5,Intel 1150/1156/1200/1700/2011

(the white argb is actually cheaper at sub-£46)
You're right! Found one elsewhere but it's £5 more than the Thermalright frozen notte, although I'm not 100% sure what the difference is between them, seems the notte gets better reviews, but this is about the last thing and I can buy everything

@neil_1821 what was your original budget lol and were you expecting to spend a lot more?
I had a rough budget of £2000, then I stretched it a little to £2300 but I feel happier knowing I've got a pretty solid rig with some water cooling and decent aesthetics at a cheaper price!

I'm still deciding about the case as it's C3 vs C5. C3 would fit on the shelf and the c5 is 25mm too big, so 12.5mm a side, I'm thinking the feet are bigger than that so would just fit.

Yeah I've been watching a lot of C3 videos, I think it'll do nicely but I'm going to have to buy their GPU support brackets as it doesn't seem they come with one.

lets see your final list so we can make fun of it? :P
That's not allowed

Asus AMD ROG STRIX B650E-E Gaming WIFI AM5 DDR5 ATX Gaming Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5 6000MHz
Kingston Fury Renegade 2TB M.2 Internal SSD
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, AM5, Zen 4, 8 Core, 16 Thread, 4.2GHz, 5.0GHz Turbo, 96MB Cache, PCIe 5.0, 120W TDP
PowerColor Radeon RX 7900XTX Red Devil OC
Thermalright Frozen Prism 360 Black ARGB
Antec C3 ARGB Black
EZDIY-FAB PSU Cable Extension Sleeved Cables

All I need to find now is a GPU support bracket but struggling to find the Antec one so if there are any other suggestions, I've never really liked the weight GPU's put on motherboards, I always get the horrible feeling it'll snap

@neil_1821 that's not too bad a list
did you not want to go for a white case/aio?

the black-in-white build doesn't look half-bad
i only went with a black aio because i couldn't get slim 140mm fans in white lol
(yes, the plastic is still on the glass, no, i don't intend to remove it)

That’s nice but nah, I’m not a white case person, I like black, suits my desk and room.

Ah I’ll see what comes with the GPU then, for the price it should come with a support!
