Hey Guys,
After finishing my personal system a system for my brother was next on the list. So far he has bought an i5 3570K, a Gigabyte Z77X-D3H, HD 7870, 8GBs of XMS3. Currently on order is a WD HDD and M4 SSD.

We are still however trying to decide on a PSU, CPU cooler and Case.

I was wondering if any users could recommend a Case, PSU and CPU cooler to come to a total of around £175ish. So far we have looked at the Fractal Design Define R3 with an OCZ ZT and a Xigmatek Gaia CPU Cooler.

Thanks

Case is very much personal preference

YOUR BASKET
1 x Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 700W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £64.99
1 x Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case with Fan Controller - Black £49.99
1 x Akasa AK-CC4007EP01 Nero 3 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366/2011/AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/FM1) £23.99
Total : £151.27 (includes shipping : £10.25).

It might seem like a budget case. You do however get a lot for the money....4 120mm fans, a fan controller and digital temp display with cable management (8 pin aux power extension cable included). No USB3 ports but you could add a card reader to the front with a USB3 port for £10ish

PSU is modular and a steal on that offer, the 600W version is roughly the same price. The coolermaster 612 would be a better heatsink but isn't in stock and is a lil more cash. Hope this helps

Basic but decent case for the money. Plenty of headroom with the power supply for overclocking and going Crossfire at a later date seeing as his motherboard is Crossfire compatible. Case is all about personal preference as a good one can out last most other components.

YOUR BASKET
1 x XFX 850W XXX Edition Modular '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply £99.98
1 x BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Case - Black £44.99
1 x Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £25.99
Total : £183.56 (includes shipping : £10.50).

As mentioned it is personal preference, the subtle look is what he is trying to go for on the outside so the Shinobi is interesting. However, if you dropped the PSU down to the 650W model would there be a better option for the case or is the Shinobi one of the best for the price range?

The Gelid is the best air cooler on the market.
The Shinobi, is very elegant with excellent performance for a outstanding price.

The shinobi only comes with 1 fan and I don't think it comes with the power extension either. I own the Z9 plus myself, i'm not a big fan of LED lighting but I moved the fan off the side panel to the top of the case. If you set the fan controller to low this reduces the speed of the fans making them quiter and also dims the blue LEDs.

That CM 700W is your best bet on bang for buck. I own a gelid tranquillo, it's a fine cooler but the akasa is just as good for less cash.....ideally as i said, I would prefer the coolermaster 612 for £30ish but it is currently out of stock :(

Right thanks for your input. However still curious as to whether it would be better to drop the PSU down to the 650W Modular XFX PSU as there are no plans for Crossfire as he plays on a 21.5" HD monitor and there is no where near enough room for more. What more could he get in case terms by saving around £30?

Where are you going to save £30?
The only XFX 650W Modular Psu is £72.98 inc VAT .

Idleman has suggested similar to me (hey mate). I didn't use the R3 as you said you had already been looking at it, just tried to show a cheaper well spec'd alternative.....if you don't like the Z9, think I would go with the R3 too

Saving £30 compared to the 850W version mentioned earlier. So it's looking like the Define R3, Gelid Cooler and the 700W Coolermaster PSU. Thanks for the quick responses guys :)
