Hi guys
I’ve got a build in mind for both gaming and uni work but would like some outside opinions of it.

GPU
Saphire Nitro + AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT

CPU
RAM

AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3D
G Skill trident z5 neo ddr5-6000 cl30 expo

Storage

Samsung 990 Pro 2TB Gen 4 (with heatsink)

PSU

Corsair Rm850x Shift 850w 80+ Gold

Motherboard MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI

Case

CORSAIR 3500X Mid Tower E-ATX

CPU cooler

Be quiet! Dark Rock 5

Thermalright are good VFM
Noctua aren't VFM however they do offer CPU socket "upgrade kits" which can prolong the life of a CPU HSF a few years down the road (I have a Noctua myself) but at the high cost of Noctua it might just be better to buy a new cooler.

The Thermalright Evo has good reviews and is bundled with high quality fans

Motherboard MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI
I would get a b850 board.
Also the b650 tomahawk is full pcie 4, which would've been fine when b650 launched, but nowadays most boards (b850) have pcie 5 there really isn't any reason to get inferior tech

whether pcie5 is needed or not is a different matter, but the cost difference is negligible there's no reason to settle for pcie4

Samsung 990 Pro 2TB Gen 4 (with heatsink)
You don't need SSDs with the heatsink as the motherboard will likely already have a heatsink, so you're wasting money at best.
Also the 990pro isn't the cheapest.

These SSDs are alternatives:
As it's such a high-spec build, I would not settle for any less than an SSD with DRAM

The usual suspects are (in no particular order):
Samsung 990 pro
WD SN850X
Crucial T500
Seagate Firecuda 530
SK hynix Platinum P41 / Solidigm SSD P44 PRO
Kingston Fury Renegade
Adata XPG GAMMIX S70 BLADE

I would go with any on the list, whichever is cheapest on the day

Edit: added a couple more choices

Would the below work well?

If not, I’d love some suggestions

So does Thermalright as I found out by accident at the weekend. They do Intel 1700/ AMD AM5 kits for many of their old coolers including the True Spirit series and Macho/Grand Macho that all came out many years ago so this extended socket support holds no water for Noctua any longer. Granted you have to pay for the upgrade kit but it will still work out much cheaper than Noctua's overpriced coolers.

Have you got a link to it as there are so many
The only one that is in stock on here is this one but it's more expensive than you can get it elsewhere with free next day delivery.
