Hi all.

So I've been buying parts for a '2KfOuRteEn" Rig. So far am almost heart set on every part bar the GPU , although its I have some decent experience of handling/installing components its my first complete build from scratch

Most of the parts are black and white but am in no mans land with the GPU.

So far Ive got/ on order

Prodigy Phenom
i7 4770k haswell + (Insert closed loop single fan cooler here) going for 4ghz+
sniper g1 m5 z87 MATX
8G RAM @ 2400mhz Teamgroup
650 Modular/ semi-mod PSU
Crucial m500 240gb
6 y/o Seagate 500gb HDD
Windows 8.1

GPU .... Really stuck,I was thinking of a 280/770. Pretty sure 780 and 290 are out of my 200+275 budget ( stretch too 300 if its REALLY worth it ).

Just need some pointers, Ive got all the parts bar the i7 and the GPU.

So. What GPU? Should I wait till the other side of the new year?

Cheers

Wait until next year, yes. Once the non-reference 290s are out the reference models may be pushed back down towards your £300 max max max budget (maybe). You could probably get a second hand 780 for £300, if you don't mind that.

Otherwise I'd go for a 280X over a 770 for the extra VRAM.

Cheers mate, Sound advice, hard hear to though when am desperate for a new rig! am like a kid at christmas, Guess I hang around until Jan or boxing day sales etc

With that spec you be will worth waiting till you can afford to buy a GTX 780 or R290...;)

The GPU is one the most important parts of building a gaming rig..

Or do what i did and buy a less than top end card because you couldn't wait to save up and then end up going crossfire / sli later at more cost and a bit more hassle.

But then i am childishly impatient so this is bad advice..
