Ok, after many weeks of decisions and help from you guys - here are my final specs (open to change!)

Enermax Technology 620W ELT620AWT Liberty PSU
Gigabyte S775 Intel 965P ATX GLan 8CH Audio ATX (DS3)
Western Digital Raptor 150GB S150 16mb 10000rpm
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Socket 775 2.4GHz
LiteOn DVD±RW/RAM 16x SATA Dual Layer
OCZ 2GB PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

...all to go in my Lian Li v2100B.

Im not going to be doing much overclocking from stock, most likely none at all if im honest. Am going for a cheaper GFX card so i don't loose too much money when DX10 cards arrive!

Any thoughts before i order?

Have you checked the compatability of the Ram with the Gigabyte motherboard? I can't tell exactly which model it is since there are a couple based on the 965 chipset.

Why the Raptor? They are pretty expensive and don't tend to offer huge performance gains over something like a 7200.10.

Finally I'd probably consider getting an IDE DVDRW(probably an NEC or Pioneer) since otherwise you will be taking up a SATA port that might be valuable. :)

Thanks for your response.

The board im going for is the DS3 (thought that was in there, whoops!), and i have checked the PDF file on the Gigabyte site but it doesnt list many 2GB pairs that i can see, and i cant see the OCZ on there? Is there any memory you know of that definately is compatible and a similar price/spec? GeIL?

I have a 74GB raptor at the moment and am very happy with it, i had a 36GB before that and am a bit Raptor biased - so going to have to stick with it, but appreciate you trying to save me some money :)

I'll only ever be using the Raptor HDD, maybe at some point in the future another one but seriously doubt ill need any more spare SATA ports, and i wanted to get rid of my huge IDE cables so thought SATA was the best way to go...i have tried rounded IDE cables but theyre still pretty bulky!

Feel free to argue with me if none of the above sounds fair enough, its the only way i'll learn... :p

Just read the DS3 post and it had loads of useful RAM information, so going to go for the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (MY-058-GL).

Thanks!

Good choice on the Ram, that is no problem on the DVDRW then, I just thought I'd highlight it in case you had a few hard drives or something like that and as for the Raptor, well I can't justify one myself but they are still the fastest out there(albeit by a relatively small margin now) so if you have the money and like them by all means go for it. :)

The 150gb Raptor is abit quieter compared to the 74gb by the way & better, Ive got both. :)
Go for the Western Digital Raptor 150GB WD1500ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-069-WD) As per this quote:-

Don't get the clear windowed one, the Raptor X - it has half the MTBF (mean time before failure) of the normal Raptor 150GB (600,000 hours as opposed to 1.2 million hours).

No problem, didnt want you to get ripped off thats all - thats why their probally same price the Raptor X is a total gimmick.
