final spec check before buying

this is my first build, got a E8400 off ebay for £120 using the dvd drive, sound card and hard drive from my old machine how does the rest look?

any advice would helpful especially concerning modo and psu as i'm pretty unsure about these.
will be used for gaming, media etc. maybe overclocking but not important

budget £650-700

id personally get the ati 4870 either 512 or 1gb.

hmmm maybe. they're a bit out of my price range though. Was wondering if the psu would be enough, or if the motherboard i've picked is decent.

would be nice to have a 4870 though...

well......if your budget is 650-700...then u could afford a 4870 with change to spare for a bit meatier psu...i would go 550 watt min these days...tbh

would cost you about £73 more.......so 525 + 120 for the cpu is £645ish....would be pretty decent rig then

i think the gigabyte mobo's are pretty good. someone else will here will have more knowledge. 4870 are £212 for the 1gb less for the 512mb. whats the final cost say on ur spec its been cut off

price + vat is £517 so adding 120 for cpu gives £637 overall giving me roughly £60 to play with.

concerning the graphic card my monitor can't support high res's so might go for the 512mb version of the 4870

as its a bit cheaper and the mem and gpu are faster.

that 4870 should run pretty good then. prob max settings on most games.
