A few things:

- This PC will be for gaming =P.
- I got a headset so i don't need speakers/a new headset.
- The monitor will be for my old PC, because i'll use my current 22" on the new machine.

Anyway i could save money? Please tell lol.

Thanks, Kaoswarr.

Try and get Xtreme Music sound card if they have one.

Get a Q6600 and not E6850.

They don't have one of those in stock atm. Otherwise i would have.

And about the Quad core. I've dabbled with the idea of having Quad core, or Core 2 duo. And the E6850 seems the most logical choice because games have only *just* started using Core 2 duo to there advantage (Supreme commmand for example). So it will be a while untill Quad core's are usefull for gaming really. Well, that is what i have been told anyway =\.

Get a Quad.

At that price bracket its the only CPUto get.

You will easily get 3ghz with it.

Other than that its a nice spec.

Quad it is then =D.

Anytihng else that can be improved?

I'm a bit iffy about the HD. I would have gone for the 150gb Raptor, but i'm out money lol.

I would go for the seagate 500 7200.10

Any specific reason?

Or just personal experience?

I have a raptor 150 for my OS games and apps etc... and terrabyte seagates for my DATA.

Great fast drives with nice warranty.

Anyone that says Raptors are a Rip off are usually people who cannot afford them :p ;)

Hehe i see.

So would gaming be fine on the seagate?

Or should i wait and save for a 150gb raptor.

Will be fine.

You could get two smaller seagates and RAID 0 them.

Then when you have more cash get a seperate drive for your DATA

Hehe i might sound like a total noob (Well i am, this is my first PC i'm going to build).

How do i setup a RAID 0 configuration? lol xD

Is it not possible to plug both old and new pc's into that monitor? or are they in separate rooms. that would save you a lot.

Also, why do you need an old pc when you hve a new one? if you need an old pc, why do you need such a good monitor if its not for games when your gaming pc is?

ooo and i love your msn persons name of "But crack"

Im still not convinced of the Quad core for gaming. Two thumbs up if youre going to be doing a lot of video encoding but I dont think the argument has yet been made to say a gaming computer will benefit more from a quad core right now. Have a look at this comparison .

I will be going for the E6850 for a number of reasons. Firstly I dont see many games that will benefit from quad core in the enar future. Crysis is a tempter but not enough of one for me as I expect it to run as well on a 6850. Secondly overclocking is a no no for me because one of my games hates memory dividers and heat is a big issue where I have my comp and overclocked quads run hot I believe. If I did overclock id rather be going from 3ghz that going to 3ghz. Finally by the time quad cores have a proven utilisation in games I think a quad 6850 will be about the same price as the 6600.

So for me, its the proven over the hopeful. But its a thin line.
