Staying within the current budget, i think the i7 ivybridge system gives good value.

VM use would only be intermiitent as I prefer woking on the base metal (or OS in this case). VMs used for old XP system and maybe occassionally testing of beta software releases.
 
I think you could be right about the memory. The Guy in the video says that it will only support 'naked' low profile memory. (ie. no heat spreaders).

He specifically mentioned the G Skill Ripjaws.

However, it does beg the question: "who in their right mind develops a product that will rule out 90% of their customers?".

Noctua have a page telling users which memory is compatible here

Be Quiet do not even have a page showing the maximum height of memory permitted.

If anyone knows what would be good memory to use, then please let me know.

Ideally, would like something like the G.Skill RipJawsX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-14900CL10D-16GBXL) that I chose originally.

Kingston Hyper X Genesis appears to be an option, but I did not see any 8GB sticks and it does not appear to be as fast as the G-Skill.

The alternative is to use something like the Noctua NH-D14 or the Phanteks PH-Tc1 4PE

Can claw you back a few quid. Note the GPU is clocked faster and is cheaper, SSD is cheaper and a 2TB HDD. RAM is low profile, faster and cheaper but doing it this way, does fill all the RAM slots. Did you think you would go beyond 16GB?

Nice build.

I did want 2x8GB sticks of memory, just in case I want to add more later.

Unfortunately, I have had to replace several Seagate drives recently and my current WD drive is still going strong after 8 years, so this is just a personal preference at the moment.

I really wanted the Be Quiet Cooler but I am having difficulty finding RAM as good as my original choice, that will fit under it, any ideas?
