Hey

Sorry for the boring thread but not done this for 3 years...

I have a 650W Antec Signature PSU, Vertex 2E SSD and an Antec P180 case. I intend to do a comfy OC to 4-4.5GHz.

I mainly browse and game at high FPS, 1980x1080 @ 120Hz

Look OK?

Cheers :)

Too much cash spent on the motherboard and too little on the CPU cooler. That will probably get you to 4.4, but no guarantees on load temps...

more than 4 gig of RAM is a waste for a gaming rig, it will be a long time before games can use more than that.

The money is better spent on the 2GB version of the 6950, rather than the 1GB version you have in the basket.

- I fib a little, I already own that motherboard because I got it £20 cheaper some weeks ago :)

- That cooler gets very good reviews: (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2010/01/20/gelid-tranquillo-cpu-cooler-review/4) and it's very quiet. I didn't see the need spending more for a low-ish OC..?

- I don't upgrade very often so I thought I might as well go for 8GB as it's so cheap at the moment. Also the vengence is newer than the XMS.. so worth it for a couple of quid more?

- 2GB 6950 seems unnecessary for me as I don't play with high textures usually. Also the 1GB OC will perform better at lower settings/res (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2011/02/11/amd-radeon-hd-6950-1gb-review/7).
