Hi guys,

Just checking all this is compatable and is the best buy bang for buck?

Already got keyboard, mouse, monitor, case and vista 64

What do you think? Anything missing? Anything that could be vastly improved on if budget is to stay under £620?

Change the board to this Clicky as you have specced a ddr3 motherboard.
If you are gaming have a look at the E8XXX range and drop the PSU down, you will only need 600w~ you could get away with 520w
 
You're going over the top on the power supply, unless you plan to seriously overclock your CPU and go for a second video card you don't need 700W.

Add in some Arctic Silver, unless you have some around. I've never had decent paste come with a retail CPU kit or cooler.

The memory you've chosen doesn't tie up with the CPU.

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Platinum Series DDR2 (OCZ2P10664GK) matches.

I'm quite keen on keeping the quad core CPU, unless you think i will get a huge performance gain using dual?

Reckon I'm ready to checkout? :D
 
You won't see a big performance gain in most games, but you will when you get any that are able to use all 4 cores.

What dual core do you have just now?

And please note you still have PC6400 memory with a PC8500 CPU.

The ram will be fine for that cpu, Don't think there is much performance difference.

Yeah, but he's going to have to run a multiplier to get it to work. Although I expect most boards these days will go ahead and do that themselves.

Personally I'd go for the PC8500, but you're right he could shave off some cash by going for lower speed memory.
 
I would suggest this memory - it will do 1000Mhz 4-4-4-12. You will also need a fan for that heatsink - perhaps something like this. Hopefully you should be able to get 9 * 400 (3600Mhz) with that CPU.
 
hmm, going for PC8500 memory seems to put me over budget. i take it that 6400 memory will still work with my CPU/mainboard?

Looks great. You don't need the Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste - the Thermalright Ultra 120 comes with thermal paste.

The 6400 RAM is fine.
