Im using the stock cooler because I dont plan on OC'ing.
And isn't a modular PSU better for cable management?

Also if your not intending on sli/xfire you could get a less powerful PSU and Mobo, and slip in a SSD?

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £146.99

Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive £73.99

OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £49.98

Yes but the price reflects it too when it comes to branded psu's.

It's criminal to have an i5 2500k and not o/c it. Infact you should be put away for it cleaning old 386's with a toothbrush for at least 5 years :P

Seriously though the stock cooler is very very poor even if your not overclocking. The gelid is an excellent cooler (price wise) and will take away a lot of the heat from your cpu which cant be bad.

Ill look at different PSU's but I cant overclock so that why im stick with the stock cooler atm.

I guess I just fear buggering up the CPU but I will have to look at some guides. - Any recommendations?

There are plenty off here but you can probably get at least a 4.3ghz o/c if not a little more by just turning up the multiplier in the bios. Also its pretty hard to kill off the cpu as it will shut down (quote me if I'm wrong) when it gets too hot.

Oh and after you o/c, go small at first and run cpu-z and hwmonitor to keep an eye on the temps when in windows. Then if all is ok run prime95 and give a stress test for a few hours (although a lot of people say 10 hours) to check if it fails anything. If it does refer to the guides and check voltages or drop the multiplier till its stable. It's pretty easy and shouldn't take you more than an hour or two to get clued up enough to get at least 4.3 out of your cpu.

Well if i ever get round to OC'ing ill ask on this forum for advice.
and as for the SLI that would probably be around october or december next year.
