Final Spec Check

Given the GPU price crash and the ongoing uncertainty around Nvidia 4000 series cards I've decided to pull the triggler on new build now.

Specced this out, think it makes sense, but would appreciate any input before I pull the trigger tomorrow

What are you using it for?

12900K is overpriced for what it is. Get the 12700K.

3080 is a better buy than the 3080 Ti because the Ti is way overpriced.

Stick to the MSI Z690-a pro DDR5, it’s fare better priced.

Buildzoid has a July 2022 RAM buying advice video, I’ll post it here. I suggest you watch it and decide which ram you want.

why are you spending crazy money on everything else then getting an SN850? samsung 980 pro is pretty much twice the IOPS

if your trying to burn money and get the best of the best then you may as well get a 980 pro

btw that case can take 140mm fans and they are currently cheaper.... although bad design of the case means the exhaust has to be a 120mm

12700k is a far better choice than the 12900k, just save the money for 1% less performance.

Similar choice with the 3080 being much better value than the 3080ti. You can get an Asus TUF 3080 for £699 on ocuk and there are still 12GB 3080s for £799. The 3080ti pricing never made sense and now there is good availabilty I see no point to get it.

Thanks for the feedback all, made a few changes as suggested including dropping to a 12700K and changing out the m.2 drive.
