Final Specifications - Please advise £7600 Build

You must be very rich. Spend 3k and upgrade it again in 18 months time. The difference in performance between a 3k to a 7k pc will be minimal.

to be honest and this is only my opinion, I would do something like Kendrick Coleman has done with his ESXI hosts (cheap and green) and then a NAS as an ISCSI target for VM's and perhaps two switches to seperate VM traffic from storage traffic

Then with the thousands left, treat yourself to a decent gaming pc?

That way you can usb boot the ESXI hosts and the storage in NAS based

food for though perhaps?

I have a single machine as a ESXI host and it runs all my labs without an issue, alternatively a single good spec machine and Vmware Workstation 8 would do for labs and you can run nested clusters of ESXI and/or Hyper-v

are you planning to use esxi inside vmware workstation or boot into esxi?

If you boot into esxi, what are you going to use to control it? a laptop?

Also your long list doesn't seem to have any software on it....

would something like 2 Xeon E5-2687W's and 680's etc. be better? :o more expensive sure, but i doubt you'd have any problems spending more if your already spending 7.6k on a rig! :d
