Hey guys, may remember me form a couple of other question threads...

I've got the cash for the OC'd BFG 8800GTX. And i may well buy it right now
However
Is it worth me saving up like and extra 50 quid or so, and getting a GX2...?
like

If it is worth it,
First of all will my Corsair HX520W still be able to run the 9800? I know it can the 8800 Also, I've heard SLi Can't run two screens... does that mean the 9800 won't? Or odes it not technically count as SLi...?

Thanks a lot in advance!

The 9800GX2 won't run two screens, and I'd go for the XFX 8800GTX, its cheaper and then clock it yourself.

Unless your running a 30inch screen in which case 8800gtx for the win, then a single 8800gtx is generally adequate.

For fifty squids extra, I'd get the GX2. Typical benchmarks show a 30-50% performance boost over even the 8800 Ultra.

As far as power, you might get away with 520W corsair (especially as Corsairs are much more efficient than other, cheaper PSUs), but to be safe, you might need a 650W. Personally, I ordered a 750W Corsair, because that should run 2 GX2s in SLI (effectively quad SLI).

Happy, why is LoE of any significance? I don't get it. Are you saying that we can expect a price drop soon, or just that it will be hard to find another GX2 in the future if you decide to SLI?

I would, however when i tried to up my clock on my 7600GT, even by 5 Mhz, it would become unstable... so i must be doing something wrong.. or something else about my system won't let me overclock the card... so i don't really wanna risk it with the XFX... I have the money for the BFG, so that's not much of an issue.

Thanks for all of your input's. ^^

Hello Combusted, if you don't mind me asking, what resolution do you play games at and what other hardware components does your system consists off? :)

Hello kissenger, the Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU will be able to power a Quad Core, a couple of hard drives and an Nvidia 9800GX2 based system quite easily. :)

Insane to buy the BFG OC 8800 GTX at that price, especially when you can get the exact same card with a different sticker on the cooler for only £176, and a lesser warranty length.

1280x1024 Since that's my screens max (Although my massive 5 year old screen which i use as my second screen can go to 1600x1200, but it just makes everything small, so iuse 1280x1024 on that too.)
I've got

Corsair HX520W Modular PSU
P-5N32-E SLi Plus NForce MoBo.
Hitachi 160GB 8MB Cache x1
Core2Duo E6400 @ 2.13Ghz
Corsair DDR2 5400C4 TwinX 2x1GB

Yeah will clock up th those speeds with ease, will go a lot higher as well. :)

Oh wow... Strange they put essentially the same card at a much higher price... when you could get a cheaper one... and do it yourself... Don't think that will ever not boggle me...

Sorry if i offended you by saying no to your opinion earlier Loadsa :(, I didn't originally make it clear i was going to play at higher ress's

Thanks so much for the help all.

Saved me a bunch of cash :D

Hey, it's me again form yesterday, I ordered the XFX 8800GTX, due to all your reccomendations, which i'm thankful for :D

However, since i'm going form a 7 series to an 8 series, when it arrives, would you suggest i uninstall all the video drivers before installing the GTX?

Or would anyone be so kind as to point me in a direction where i could find any info that would be required when upgrading a Graphics card?

Thanks in advance!
