Right i've been reading here.

http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/home_av/tvs/0,39037585,39272183p,00.htm

Theres references to it being 1080p ready? but its listed as 1366 x 768 resolution? Wondering if its 1080p output for pc only or something?

I know these 100hz are coming v soon, just wondering if this one is already a 100hz 1080p for pc use? Seems JVC/samsung/Toshiba all have 100hz's super sized zero afterglow lcd's coming out in the next couple of months.

Hmm, how does it output 1080p with only a horizontal pixel alignment of 768..

Very dubious, although i havent read the full article :)

It will accept a 1080p signal by HDMI (dunno about other inputs) but it will scale it down to the TV's res - 1366x768 pixels. So it's 1080p ready, but not a true 1080p TV, or a "Full HD" TV as there sometimes called, it would need a res of 1920x1080 for that.

If you want a true 1080p TV then your'll probably have to look at 37"+ LCD TV's because TV's under that size are very nearly always 1366x768 res.

Sharp's XD1 range of TV's are 1080p res, so are Sony's X series, and Samsung's F series.
Theres a pic of my Sharp 46" XD1 in this thread - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9126155&postcount=1507

Firstly! wow nice setup :D

Secondly! Whole point of the thread is the possibility of a huge genuine 100hz (hopefully near crt quality smoothness) on a 1080p. They're defiantely coming but as you say..seems to be 37" at the smallest. Seems this defiantely isn't capable of running 1080p res in windows unfortunately!

seems like toshiba might be the first to get one out....

I could totally be wrong... but this 100hz stuff sounds a lot like what my Sharp 1080p XD1 TV does, linked in my last post (it's a new model) where the blacklight flickers and lessens motion blurring.
In which case, it's nothiong special. It does make motion blur a little less but you cant really notice unless you study the screen. And i can notice the backlight flickering - even though it does it really fast, so i turn the feature off. Flickering TV's are not the way forward. One of my fave things about LCD is that it dont flicker.

100Hz technology operates a little different to backlight flickering / scanning backlight models in an effort to reduce motion blur. Backlight scanning like you describe operates with normal 50Hz frequency, but the blacking of images is designed to "clean" the human eye and reduce the perceived motion blur from image persistance in the retina from hold-type displays like LCD's. On the other hand, 100Hz TV's use interpolated intermediate images to increase the frequency from 50Hz to 100Hz, and therefore increase the frame rate to 100fps. In practice, results have been quite promising so far, but there's only been a few models featuring this technology so far.

some more info on them here:

as mentioned in one of them posts. The LE4073BD already uses it (unfortunately only 13xx x 7xx). I have actually seen one of these tv's in a horribly overpriced shop :p running this absolutely rubbish video so it was hard to tell if they're any better or not. Has anyone got a LE4073BD or the 32" varient and tried hooking it up to a pc just for a mess about ?

Lots of new technologies and improvements.... and I bet in 5 years time we might see one of them ;)

What about Laser LCDs? They too claim its cheaper/faster/better iq....and due soon just like every other technology ;)
