Hi guys
so after many years of swearing i was going to upgrade the ol' rig i've finally got around to setting aside some cash to do it.
atm the current spec is:
fx8150 (yeah i know)
sabertooth 990fx
16gb ram
R9290x (og reference cooler version)
hybrid physx750m (which works surprisingly well)
mx500 250g ssd and a 1tb wd black
air 540 case+ax860i psu and a k2 keeping it cool (not sure if that's compatible with new sockets)
so basically i'm not sure what's going to give me the best bang for buck, i'm pretty sure any of the modern cpu crop is going to blow bulldozer out of the water but i'm not sure if the graphics are going to be a bit old hat if i just upgrade the core.
what i do want:
500gb min m.2ssd (samsung or crucial)
16gb min ram
asus motherboard (i know other brands are available but asus have served me well)
so, for the guts of £1100 where would i be best off looking? i'm open to just upgrading the cpu/mobo/ram and worrying about the gpu's later as those are easy swaps. i'll be keeping the case/hard drives/psu as those are all good, although obviously the os drive will be changing to the new m.2
the rig is mainly for gaming, a lot of modded arma/ksp but it occasionally gets called into service to do the odd bit of rendering/fea simulation but not often enough to be a major worry.
