Hey guys.
I can't thank this community enough for helping me figure out this build and helping with any queries no matter how amateur (expect more of these soon).

I've got my cash ready and tommorrow is a shipping day, so I can order very soon!

I've been able to do quite a bit of research on the components that i've found hard to choose or i'm worried about so I have a few Q's before I send my order through :D

Heres my build...

+ GTX460 1gb OC edition + 8800GTX 640mb for physx +Two Samsung 1tb spinpoint drives

1- In my research i've noticed people have had issues with PSU Cables not being long enough when going behind motherboard, esp in bigger cases. Would this be the case with this PSU? And where can I find the extensions if needed?

2- Should I order any extra fans? Bearing in mind I have a Xilence Red Wing 120mm fan from my previous case spare, aswell as one of the included Fractal fans on the rear will be replaced with the Kuhlers radiator and fan so that will be another spare fan.

3- Will I be able to overclock successfuly? i've heard a lot of mixed things about the Fractal XL.. I hope to have a very quiet PC for my recording and music stuff but also ability to have it OC'ed for gaming. (Maybe I can have profiles so it can keep quiet depending on what I do? Possible?).. what can I expect with regards to this and cooling/noise.

4- Any further advice on the build or any accesories that will improve it?

Thanks in advance!
David

1. Extension cables. It's usually the 8 pin connector, if any, which needs extending.

2. You can add another 140mm fan to the front and a 120/140mm fan to the side. It's up to you if you want to do this. 140mm fans here if you want one:

3. That processor should overclock to 4.5GHz quite easily. The case looks pretty well cooled.

4. Get the retail version of the 2500K. It's only £8 more but has a 3 year warranty instead of 1 and comes with free Operation Flashpoint Red River Game.

Does the Antec Kúhler come with thermal paste? If not get some.

Some of your Stuff is on This Week Only so make sure you order by Tuesday night. Prices go back up on Wednesday morning.

Other than that looking good.

Thanks stulid & Surveyor!

Yeah I pondered retail regarding the i5, but read a Processor is more likely to fail in the first year, so the warranty made sense.. also i'm not sure i'd play the game and thought I don't need the stock cooler. However I may switch it to the retail when I order and pretend I didn't :p I want the nice box if anything!

The Kuhler comes with pre-applied thermal material (IIRC) so should be fine right?

I've shoved the 8pin extension in my basket, if I need the other i'll find out and it shouldn't stop me from building as I can use the hatch in the case temporally.

I guess i'll figure the fans when I can see how the cooling and noise is and then get more advice on what fans are reccomended for my purposes..

And yeah the deals.. well I wanted this ordered on Thurs but didn't have cash and missed the shipping deal so I deff want this ordered by today! Or i'll have no hope in the world, I cannot make decisions to save my life, hence all my posts around here

Cheers guys. Looking forward to any more thoughts.

Looks like a sweet setup. Definitely get the retail version of the i5-2500k, pretty sure it wont come with a stock cooler if you get the OEM, either. (Always handy if something goes wrong with the Kuhler). Considering £8 is basically nothing for piece of mind, nevermind everything else you're getting for free :)

Edit: Yes the Kuhler comes with pre-applied thermal compound, and it's actually pretty good.

Done, its ordered OH MY GOD! :p All this worrying and its out of my hands now.

Changed it to retail also...;)

That build looks very similar to mine ... have you been copying me?

Haha not that i'm aware of, it all started when someone reccomended me a certain build, but since then i've had other advice, done more researched and swapped things around a bit :)

no need for a dedicated physx card. save the money from your 8800 and add it to the budget for the 460 and get a 560 card

Well I already own those two cards, from previous build thats why they're there.. its not a total new build, just upgrading to new tech, so new Mobo = new ram, new CPU, new case and psu.. everything else I have, such as monitor, graphics, harddrives, etc

ah I see :)

looks good but new Geforce cards most the time are slower if u give them a older card to use as a dedacated phyx card.

if im wrong about this 2 cards then someone correct me but im pretty sure the gtx 460 will perform better with out the other card as dedacated physx
