Interesting. I wonder which underclock further - the high tcasemax or the low tcasemax chips. I suspect the ones that overclock best may also underclock best (but will still pobably give out more heat than a low TDp chip)

Regarding heat also, I'd have to say that the better clocking chips do run hotter. My two 146s run slightly hotter than my 3800, so it seems if you want a cool system you should get a poor clocker.

I wouldn't go much above 1.55V on air, maybe 1.6V at a push with top end cooling

Your temps are rather low though and that's a bonus!

Difficult to say, it could be that the CPU is too hot to run stable, the only way to get it stable is to get better cooling.

On the other hand it could be a lack of VCore.

I would try a little more VCore and see if that helps, you are close to a stable system though

Looks like more volts didn't help, but is looking promising @2.9 1.5v thats not the magic 3, but enough to keep me happy, and the mem is T1 again

All on a stock Opty DC cooler (copper heatpipe job) so not bad I think
