So, after 2 years of staring longingly in shop windows and promising myself I was only waiting for the price to come down a little I purchased a 360. An Elite no less.

And.... I am certainly not disappointed with my purchase. The noise from the fans is rather annoying but you soon block it out.

I got 2 games with it:- "Blue Dragon" and "The Darkness"

The visuals on "The Darkness" blew be away and continue to do so every time I play it. (Which isn't a great deal because I am totally hooked on "Blue Dragon")

Once hooked up to XBOX Live my experience is complete. Downloading the latest demo's, streaming music from my PC, playing some classic arcade games. Its just brilliant.

The one thing that did p*** me off a little was playing "The Darkness" multiplayer. The lag was terrible (The lag was the reason i stopped playing original xbox games online) I hope this is not true of all the games.
Pro evo better be playable or its going back to the shop!!

I have a 2Mb cable connection so should be plenty fast enough to handle it but I continued to be annoyed at being shot at from non-existent players and not hitting what I was shooting at. (And No thats not just because I am a crap shot)

Anyway.... thats the complaining over with, on with the good stuff.

"The Darkness"
Simply awsome, clever idea played out to perfection. Stunning graphics and not a bad storyline either. I have not enjoyed playing a FPS this much since Halo or Half Life.

"Blue Dragon"
A little disappointing but I am hooked non the less. Just started the second disc and Shu (the main character) is getting so annoying I am almost contemplating skipping all fmv. The gameplay remings me very much of the early FF games (Especially FFIII on the DS) which is not surprising since the head designer used to work on the FF titles. Hugely engrossing and enjoyable title but seems to be almost impossible to gain any achievments. (Over 16 hours of play, 1/3 of the way through the game and I have only unlocked 3)

oh well, I have just ordered PDZ (£9.99, so silly not to really) as I plan on playing through in co-op mode with afriend of mine. Just need some more friends to play with now :)

Thanks for reading. ;)

Welcome to the club my friend!

Don't worry about the darkness, its very well known that its very very laggy, supposedly they are bringing out a fix. All other multiplayer games ive played have been excellent with only the odd server being slightly laggy. :)

Yet another satisfied 360 owner after months of uncertainty!

Glad your enjoying, you sound like me when I first got my 360. a lot of people slate pdz but as you say for that price its fine for what it is, I spent the majority of my time on co-op, the harder difficulties can be a female dog.

Glad your happy with it, I love the Darkness, brilliant game. i wouldn't bother with multiplayer, it was a last minute tacked on feature because everyone complained about their last game not having it (Riddick). I think you'll be disappointed with PDZ, its utter crap.

Thats really good to know about the lag. I had started to worry. Hopefully when Halo 3 arrives next week it will be a different story.

Ive had my 360 since launch and ive hammered it! Nearly as much when I used to have my NES then Snes! Its a fantastic console! :D

Excellent, glad to hear you're enjoying it. I'd rank it as the strongest console for a first 2 years ever, some of the games are amazing. You MUST get Bioshock and Gears of War.

Well done Wiggage! :D
I almost slated the hell out of the Darkness upon going through it the first time. I truly thought it sucked, then I began using my powers and oh my...what a title.

It's multiplayer side of things was tacked on. Even the devs admitted that the netcode isn't at all up to scratch for the game. Iirc you need a 4mb connection (upload) just to host a server for 8 players. It's laughable.

I'm still waiting for my launch day 360 to blow up so I can repair it myself :/

Check out Condemned if you like scary titles, and Dead Rising if you love zombie whacking ala Dawn of the Dead with a fit burd in it :o

Bioshock and GOW are very high on my list of must have games along with Crackdown, probably gonna wait for GOW and Crackdown to come down a little in price, don't like paying full price for older games just to find out they have dropped in price 2 days after I buy them which is usually the case.

Buying second hand is the key :)

Crackdown is £20 new in the major games retailer.

Good choice to finally buy one, you have a great back catalogue to keep you amused for years :) and most of them can be had dirt cheap :)

If the visuals on The Darkness blew you away, wait until you see Gears of War and Fight Night Round 3, you'll probably spontaneously orgasm.

Gratz on the purchase :D

I love mine only had it a month but, Bioshock, GoW and Crackdown have had me addicted to it :D

Crackdown is easily worth full price, I don't know why its so cheap because its probably one of my favourite games on the 360, its so simple yet so much fun.
