finally been given the house what sort of things do i needd to do now ?

You need to sort out who is going to pay for what, as in who's bank account the direct debits are going to come out of. EG when I lived with one of my mates the rent came out of my account to the landlord and he paid me a standing order each month for his half. Then I paid the electric and gas he did phone/internet/TV and we sorted out the difference each payday.

At a more basic level, you may need to buy a load of stuff you've probably taken for granted up until now! Mop, broom, dustpan & brush, bins, cleaning products, towels, bed linen depends what's in the place at the moment. A trip to ikea (or poundland) will be in order.

Why wouldn't you both just ask your respective parents about these matters?

My prediction -> You're going to miss bill payments, damage the house and in 6 months time post a thread along the lines of "Agency won't give the deposit back, what can I do?".

i really hope this is a joke.

the letting agency said they will discuss the different things in when they hand over the keys and completel paperwork, we have everything in storage for the house from beds to sofas from fridges to bleach, its all there.
