As some of you may know from a previous post i was asking about the S5600..

..Well i decided to buy one, £200 with a bit of Chris1712 discount ;)

havent had a chance to play with it due to being in college at the moment, was just wondering if anyone had any starting tips, books, online tutorials to get me going, i am pretty advanced in photoshop so is there any other editing software available out there to also get me started?

Also, from experience is the S5600 a good camera, and is it easy to use?

Thanx,

Gaz

I'm a big fan of the S5600 - and I think it's a great camera to start out with.
Nice and automatic, foolproof, to get you going, but then has fully manual control for when you get a bit more adventurous. I've seen some stunning images from them :D

Handles nicely too. A good choice :)

If the Fuji S5500 was anything to go by (I had one) you are going to love this as a starting out point. Did me a good job on everything, was even reasonable (for a non-DSLR) at Motorsports.

Hope you learn as much as I did from Fuji :)

I'd quite like to see some of the photos you manage to get out of it actually. I'm another self confessed S5500 fanboy (see gallery in sig), I just think they cannot be beaten for the price. So yeah, i'd quite like to see the real life difference between the S5500 and S5600, other than the massively improved ISO range.

Cheers

hated the output from the S5000, however, the 5500 and beyond, I think they sorted that dodgy compression out. should be a great camera for you

Are you a John Lewis Partner by any chance ?;)

Im looking at same Camera, £223 , down to £200 with Red Discount ;) Will be VERY interested to see how you find it. My msn:

haha, nope. :P

a lot of trial and error at the moment, for the price its a bargain, i would suggest it if your a beginner like myself.

having trouble with the shutter speed though, cant seem to get it higher than 2, and i know for a fact it can produce more than that, although here is one of the first pics i took with a higher shutter speed.

Note: i only changed the colours in Photoshop :)

IIRC you need to be in full manual mode (M) to get the longest shutter speeds, and then you can go all the way up to 15 seconds :)

yer, scanned through the manual again, and saw it, thanx

whats the best thing to take images of with slow shutter speed other than motorways and waterfalls..

Cheers
