First click on the Apple logo, top left scroll down to Software Update and let it do its magic.

Firefox IMO best browser slightly better at some things then Safari, Opera is also available. For MSN you can get Messenger for Mac, or Adium.

Apple Logo (Top Left) and click software update and let it do it's thing (it will probably require a restart)

I like Safari for internet surfing personally, but Firefox is available, as is Opera (and LOADS inbetween).

You can get MSN Messenger for mac from Microsoft, but there is the Open Source Alternative Adium which is good!

http://iusethis.com is a good site for whats popular and being used in the Mac App world - it's kinda the Digg of software!

Give it a try, if it doesn't work, nothing will happen

There are many native Mac OS X FTP apps with the below being an example.

Panic Transmit FTP - http://www.panic.com/transmit
