Hi, finally got one, just need a couple of questions answered please...

I will be using the 360 on my Dell 20" widescreen monitor and i'm getting getting a VGA Cable with the two audio out, i'm going to draw a diagram, will this work? I want it to work when my pc isn't on.

Would that work? sorry for the dodgy dodgy picture.

Also I want XBOX LIVE on my xbox and be able to transfer files from my pc to my xbox - Do I need to stick in both a Ethernet cable and USB cable, or will one do either ethernet or usb, which is better?

You wont need the 3.5mm coupler with that set up.

Only thing you need to worry about is not having the 360 outputting sound at the same time as your PC.

You wont be able to transfer any files to the 360, it doesn't work like that. You can stream audio and pictures via the correct software, and if you are running Windows Media Center, you can stream video as well. Ethernet connection is the only wired connection you can use for communicating with PCs. The only wireless option is the official 360 wireless adapter, which costs a lot.

If I connect the ethernet cable straight into my pc - which has another ethenet cable already in it for the internet, will xbox live work on the xbox aswell as streaming pictures/videos?

As for not needing the 3.5mm coupler I see your point but whats the distance on the VGA between the 2 sound outputs and the VGA? Might need one of those green cables to reach it?

What happens if I output sound from the pc and the xbox at the same time? Just sound nuts? Will it be ok if I just mute my pc but still have it on?

I believe...adn dont quote me on this that you just need to bridge your LAN and internet connection in your network settings...

Yup, that works fine. I didn't even need a cross-over cable when I tried this!

bridge my lan and internet connection to my xbox? I can build a pc and I dont know what you mean lol - just stick a ethernet cable from ym xbox to my pc?

If i connect a ethernet to my pc - when my pc is off will the internet work for my xbox live?

You'll need the PC to be on when you want to use the internet on the 360.

To get Live working through a PC, you need to 'bridge' the connection, which just means that it's telling the PC to make ethernet connection 1 to see ethernet connection 2 so that they can communicate with one and other. If you have a search, there's some examples of people doing this on here.

I build Pc's too :)

What I mean is that if you go to your network setings there is an option to bridge the connection. just click that and hey presto and yep you will need the pc on to access xbox live. :)

I dont believe that you need to configure anything else.
