When I got my Thundercat in Feb the front brakes were not very good on it and even after changing the pads and hoses they were better but still not right.

After looking on the Thundercat forums, poor brakes is a common problem mainly caused the poor design of the TC caliper with it's link pipe on each caliper which makes bleeding them a nightmare.

I found out that the 99-02 R6/R1 calipers fit my bike to I got a pair for £60 from Ebay. I fitted them today with my old pads. It was easy to bleed them as well.

I tried them out on the road and the braking force is sooooooooooooooo much better than before. I now know the joys of braking very hard but only having to use a couple of fingers on the lever!!

The best £60 I have spent on my bike :D

I have just changed my front calipers too, from 6 pot Tokicos to 4 pot Nissins and the difference is night and day. Both bikes Ive had with tokico calipers have been problematic with brakes. Nissin seems to be the better option. I'm considering a radial master cylinder aswell but the £300 odd is.a little off putting.

£300? Ive a race adjustable accosatto PRS and it was £200 new. Very strong, would recommend ;)

Good job OP. Very re-assuring having good brakes :)
